Hey guys, first post here, I've been crushing the big ones down here in south Florida in the major canals on black and blue jigs, chatterbaits, big spooks and some on frogs. At least 2 fish over 4 lbs everytime out. On Sunday I got about 6 over 4 including a 6 lber, that was dark to dark with an hour break midday. Anybody else been doin good down here. Btw I'm the kid in the 12 ft Jon boat and 5 merc lol

I've been doing similar except not as big. Only good ones recently would be 3#'s. Caught 4 yesterday in 30 minutes on a Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver in Dirty Sanchez (Light green and pumpkin color). Caught some on flukes, senkos, swim jigs, and a few on the strike king denny brauer jig. How are you fishing your black and blue jig? Black and blue is supposedly a good color but I never really do that good with baits that I fish that are black/blue.

I'm fishin thick splatterdock/lily pad lines, with splatterwort underwater and reed lines against the bank. I'm pitching the jig to the edges and letting it fall to the bottom 4-8ft and hopping it twice and pulling it back In and makin another flip. Sunday the bite was on and the initial drop was all it took, yesterday it seemed like the water dropped another few inches and it messed them up just a little bit. Smaller fish were biting the jig and I had to hop it once or twice to get bit. So in other words pitch your jig around until you get bit, read where the bite came from and how you were working the bait and duplicate. And black and blue is a dirty water color, so If your fishing it In clear water than your really not giving it a fair chance, any les than 4 ft visibility is about where you wanna use it. Try using a green pumpkin/super bug/ okeechobee craw color on the back of your jig, that brown blending with that black and blue makes the jig look more like a bluegill which is really abundant down here.

Sorry for rambling lol

Sunday 5/11/14,

Sunday a friend and I went to the Holey Land west of US27 at the Palm Beach / Broward Line.  We were out there for 4 hours and the two of us caught 60 fish.  Of those 60, 4 were in the 4 pound range.  Right now I believe the bite is still good and the water is a little lower then a week ago.  Until we have significant rains the fishing should be excellent in South  Florida.  Good luck if you go. :eyebrows:

Sounds good.  I'm planning on hitting Big L this weekend.  Looks like a small front is coming through late in the week, so let's see what happens to the bite.

Holiday park still on fire, black n blue 3/4 oz jig flipping and chatterbaits are the way to go, and been gettin big boils and bites on a big river2sea rover (topwater stickbait). They bent the stock hooks out several times (looked pretty good but I guess not) replaced them with gammys and a size bigger on the middle so te bait sits more upright in the water(don't wanna change out that feather tail lol) maybe that'll up my percentages. Just run the south canal and anywhere past te bend is good honesty

Headed out to the Big L today. Fishing was slow, caught a few with the biggest about 2lbs, my wife lost a nice one also. Few short strikes on top water, nothing flipping black/blue jig, caught fish on black 10 inch culprit curly tail, then dipped tail in chartruese dye. Let's see what happens next week.

Fished the Northern canal.  Pretty much fished just past the bend (probably 1/2 mile).  Was going to try going west, but it was just too hot to continue fishing.

Anybody been out to Holiday this past week/weekend? Wondering if I should even bother rigging up a spook or just stick with some worms and jigs?

I can understand your frustration, but be thankful you have the time, and convenience to go back the very next day. Good luck.

Thanks Lou, and yeah I get out of work at 3 everyday so If I don't have anything tht needs to be done I go, and in whatever conditions(nothin extreme though). I want to learn as much as I can when I can, plus today I might have a trick up my sleeve to get the big girls to commit

Yesterday was my worst day out there yet.... 2 2lbers and an almost 4 lber, the flipping bite is hard to do when it's slick cause these fish are so wary of the trolling motor they spook upto 20 yds away from the boat. Had to throw chatterbaits, topwaters but only short strikes and rolls, except for (2) 2 lbers. Regardless these fish I think are really pressured but then again I fish the same banks every time, time to was north next time...

Have an acquaintance that ventures out to the jettie sometimes, he is bass fisherman primarily and fishes Lake O every Saturday, been doing that for maybe 30- 40 years.  Tells me the bite is hot as hell up there.  Down here in Delray bass is the last thing I am targeting, the bite is very soft, but I'm catching some really nice peacocks.

@Mattbasscrusher.

Ride out west on Alligator alley and fish the Miami Canal. It runs north and south. Good wind break for windy afternoons as well. If the water is stable (no or little current) it is usually pretty good. If the water is ripping through there, move on.

Just my .02

I have been having some great evening fishing vista view park in Davie.  Been catching a number of chunks each evening, with 15 to 20 each evening.  I ran into one of our members out there, I nice young guy from Pembroke Pines working on mastering some new techniques.  We certainly have a bunch of nice first class fisherman on this site. :respect-059:

Had a decent morning at Holiday today. Ran down south and just started flipping. Slow bite, but decent average. Missed a bunch of fish. Ended up with somewhere around 24 pounds. Was driving back home by 10:30. Total zoo out there today. Some special Olympics Bike event was going on. Tons of boats close to the ramps also. Glad I left when I did.

Going back out tomorrow evening with my daughters. They want to get a little fishing in and watch the sunset over the Glades.....

I'm stoked that they're volunteering to go out.
