Shimano Chronarch

I'm thinking about picking up a chronarch e for crankbaits but how smooth and quiet are they? I'm very picky about that I have a lews tourney pro and I love it should.I just get.another one or try a chronarch? Also my local academy surprisingly has a few curado I's in stock what about one of them?

For the money I'd probably spend it on the Curado I.  From all the reviews the Curado I has upgraded features over the Chronarch E.  Having said that though the Chronarch E series is a smooth, tried and true design and is smooth and quiet.

Just kidding.  Don't know anything about the new ones, but my A and B models are very nice reels.  Lots of Shimano guys on here.  I'm sure some of them will shortly give you their opinions.

I prefer shimano for many reasons.... However,

If the lews is working real well for you .. Maybe

I finally got my hands on a curado i today...veeeerrrrryyy nice especially for 179. It made my CU201e feel weak lol ( that 201e is currently at delaware valley for a supertune soooo...i know its gonna be awesome when it gets back) the curado i really made it so i cant wait for my new chronarch ci4 to arrive!

Defintely gonna add a curado i to my aresenal soon!

Absolutely, Curado i. I have both and the Curado is much smoother and quieter. I have been really impressed with it.

The only reason I didn't like the chronarch is because I found it awkward to hold, although mechanically I think it's one of the better reels I've used

I have a couple of Lews and a Curado I. I almost pulled the trigger on a Chronarch a couple of years back but i didn't. Great reel, but i did'nt like the way it palmed. The Lews TP palms well for me, which led me to get the Curado I,  it's a great reel.

I'd look for a chronarch 50e or a Curado 50e. 10 or 12lb line is plenty and it palms very well because of its smaller size

I use the 50's for cranking....like em a lot.  I've also started using 15lb power pro for crankin with a fluro leader....also good.

I know this is a little off topic, but if you have the money, I would invest in a Hawg handle.

 

I just put a Hawtech handle on my Curado 50e (@ 7 to 1)and makes cranking a DT-10 no problem.

I vote Curado I. I got my two LH curado I 201s yesterday. Caught a fish on my second cast and the reel handled great. The curado I series has really impressed me so far. The reel offers all the new shimano features like X ship and SVS infinity at a sub 200 price plus the shape of the reel just feels good in your hand. Some people have been hating because its not made in Japan but the build quality is excellent in my opinion. One thing to keep in mind about building and manufacturing is that you must first have a quality design, if a reel has a poor design is going to have more QC issues. The curado I seems to have a well thought out design and its a reel Shimano has been making and upgrading for a very long time. This results in a reel that can be manufactured somewhere else while still maintaining its reputation for quality and dependability at a great price. Just My 2 cents anyway. Chronarch 50e - I've got two. Fantastically smooth. Excellent reels. Curado I looks good, as well, but I've not used. Chose another 50e over the I when I was in the market for another.
