EatSleepBass Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 First off I'm young, 15 so any chance I get to go to basspro I maximize the trip, I'm going on Thursday and am looking to get some new lures. I mainly fish ponds around my area, they are dark with lots of cover and probably 12ft at the deepest point. I usually fish plastics, texas rigged like baby brush hogs and flukes and trick worms green pumpkin and watermelon (flukes). I'm looking to get some frogs, spinners and Jigs and trailers for the jigs. what ones/ size/ color/ how to fish them. All help is appreciated, Thanks! Ps is a spinner in the brush ok? The middle of the pond is pretty clear but the banks have decent amount of brush at parts, but some of the banks are clear Quote
Todd2 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I hate to throw a lot of expensive stuff from the bank because it's hard to get them out when snagged. I'd grab some 3/16 oz bullet weights, 3/0 hooks, and some Berkley Power Hawgs in green pumpkin. Good luck and have fun! Quote
slimshad Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Throw some top water and have fun! Buzzbaits even double buzzbaits.Pop Rs too. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted May 6, 2014 Super User Posted May 6, 2014 For ponds, I like the Booyah pond magic spinner baits or an H&H spinner bait. Popping frogs or other top water poppers are good too. Quote
David D. Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Once the spinnerbait hits the plants the blade(s) will get tangled (if the plants are fragile). They can still be effective, you just have to clean them often. Another couple options -if BPS carries them- are the Rage Tail Cut-Rs or Recon worms. They are a little more expensive than some soft plastics, but after fishing them for a couple weeks I am absolutely sold on them. Quote
EatSleepBass Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Oops, forgot to mention my friend has a Jon boat on the pond, game changer 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 6, 2014 Super User Posted May 6, 2014 Get yourself something not related directly to fishing. Check out the clothes; sample the fudge; look at the kids stuff; what about the great temperature gages; have lunch or dinner; play on the boats; climb all over the four-wheelers; get some candy; what about a new swimsuit; need shoes; grills and outdoor products are great to buy; check out the binoculars; look at the guns and knives; get some salt licks for your local deer; touch everything other than anything associated with fishing. Just a suggestion. Quote
tbone1993 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Chatterbaits! I never really threw them when I was 15, normally stuck to jigs/ spinnerbaits. Its an awesome bait to throw especially in grass and at night. My best 5 went 15lb the other night which isnt much but its better than 5 12inchers Quote

It is easier on the pocketbook to go through a pack of worm weights and hooks and a few packs of plastics. Sounds like it has the kind of cover you want to throw into. Quote
Blues19 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 My top pond bait is a 1/4 oz Booyah Chartreuse White Tandem Spinnerbait. Throw it past the brush and bring it along the edge. You will catch a bunch of fish doing that. Quote
Mccallister25 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Grab some 5/16 jigs. Black and blue. Rage tail chunks. Texas rig tackle. Shakey heads. Zoom finesse worms. Baby brush hogs. Buzzbait. Bomber square A's. KVD 1.5's. 1/4oz. Red eye shads. Hollow body frog. Braided line. Ill PM you with my PO box # Quote
catch anything Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 If your looking into jigs I would look at sebert outdoors a board sponsor on here. Has great stuff for a really good prices. Good colors would be like black blue a craw color and a bluegill color like green pumpkin 1 Quote
