Yo Zuri Hybrid 10Lb/ Spinning Reel

Recently purchased some Yo Zuri Hybrid from TW. 20lb for the Tatula, and bought some 10lb for my Stradic.....my question is how does Hybrid handle on spinning reels? I've heard mixed opinions. I has also purchased some kvd line conditioner , hopefully it will help with any issues?

I believe you will find 10# is too hard to manage on a spinning reel, even with L&L. 6# or 8# at the most should be plenty, esp with the hybrids greater than stated strength.

Trying to find a lower stretch mono or do poly....might have to go back to suffix elite if I can't find something I like. Possibly Trilene Sensation?

10lb yozuri should be fine. Using kvd conditioner would definitely help. I have the Stradic CI4 set up, but I have the opposite. I use 20lb braid with 12lb yozuri leaders. No issues what so ever for several years now.

I have 2 reels with 12# yo-zuri ultra soft and havent had an issue yet.

I use 8lb yo -zuri ultra soft.. I have a cumara/stradic combo.. Works great so far... They actually say it's designed for spinning gear

Yo-Zuri 10# = Sunline FC 14#, Yo-Zuri 20# = Sunline 30#. Here my question would you fish 14# on your spinning reel and 30# on your bait casting reel? The answer is you are!

This is why everyone should consider line diameter when selecting line.

I use the higher test lines on some of my spinning reels but it does hurt my casting distance. The best casting distance line so far has been Excalibur silver thread line. No one can match my casts from shore distance wise. They even walk over to me to find out how I cast so far.

I find the line diameter and flexibility matters.

The 6#, 8# & 10# copolymer line seem to work the best for me with the spinning setups for distance.

I never lost any fish using 8# test Excalibur silver thread. I find the Excalibur an40 a tad stiffer.

I would go with Sunline Machinegun Cast mono in 8#, if you like Yo-Zuri than go with 6#.

I have #6 yozuri on my spinning reel. I use kvd l&l on it. It's plenty strong and casts well.

I tried 10lb Yo Zuri on a spinning reel for about 30 minutes, that was all I could take. Stuff was jumping off my spool like a spring and had about the same amount of memory. I've heard lower pound test aren't as bad but I won't be finding out.

If I'm using spinning, which is all I use it's braid.  I do have copoly on one set up, the only reason is that I can troll it out, my home made lures create excessive line twist.  This is wide spool 5000 reel, I've used 17# trilene, some others and at present I have 14# silver thread. The distance between the 2 sizes is hardly measurable, I do prefer the line management of the 14#.  My target species probably averages somewhere around 20#, so far this has been the best line size for me.

With Yo-Zuri 10# you are actually fishing 14# high memory mono hybrid line. Too heavy of line for small diameter spinning reels, you need at least a 3000 series spool size. FORGET what the Yo-Zuri label says and go with 6 lb Yo-Zuri or any premium mono like Trilene XL 8 lb or Sunline Machinrgun if you want premium line.

Wish I woulda found this post sooner Clayton! Tried 10# last night on a spinning reel for about 30 minutes and completely gave up lol. Had another baitcaster spooled with the same 10# and it behaved much better with good sensitivity.

 

I've got a smaller spinning reel spooled with 6# that I plan on throwing the ned with this Fall, I'm expecting better results.

I use Yo-Zuri 12 lb. on my skipping outfit with no issues at all. Reel is a large spool diameter, which has alot to do with it.

10 lb. Hybrid is rated at 16.5 lb breaking strength. The stuff is tough. No memory problems at all. Use the right equipment for the right job. can't say for sure but 10lb. Sunline probably breaks at or near 10lb. Like others have said, diameter plays into it too. And KVD conditioner never hurts. Fingering the spool and stopping the line at end of cast helps also. I have gone up to 15lb hybrid on spinning gear with no issues. Gets a bait under a dock or boat pretty far and I have confidence i can get the fish out once hooked. Learn how to feather the spool and put your finger on it when cast ends. Shouldn't have any problems, except with heavier flouros. These are like springs and much less manageable on spinning gear than Hybrid IMO.

I find the 10# Yo-zuri great on a baitcaster.

I think the above is absolutley correct, any brand 10# line that breaks at 14# is 14# line.  I do believe line diameter is the key to management.

As much of a braid lover as I am I'm considering a move to mono at least for a trial.  My windknots are getting to be excessive on my freshwater reels.  If unhappy with mono I've been considering a new reel  to use with braid, I do already know that that reel will be.
