stratos4me Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Hey All,So I recently purchased a motorhome, and I'm towing my boat throughout the country spending time at as many of the best fisheries as possible. Here's my question: What campgrounds do you know of that either come with an electrified overnight slip or are within a few hundred yards of an electrified slip? In CA, I've got the delta covered and I'm familiar with Konocti Casino on Clearlake. Are there any others in CA that you know of? How about in other states? Anywhere nationwide is good as long as the bass fishing is great!Pulling the boat out every night is not practical with the motorhome.Thanks. Quote
Bassin Bob Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Most Army Corps of Engineer campgrounds have electrical hookups with both 30 and 15 amp outlets. I go to West Point Lake in Georgia, a Corps of Engineer lake, where almost all campsites are on the water. I then hook up my RV to the 30 amp outlet. I beach the boat, tie it off (to a tree or tent peg, etc), then use one of the 15 amp outlets to run extension cords to the battery charger. I have been to other Corps campgrounds and they are similar. It sounds like you're on a great adventure! Quote

Super User Lund Explorer Posted May 4, 2014 Super User Posted May 4, 2014 Sounds like a great way to make a bucket list. Best source for Michigan that I can think of is linked below. http://www.michigan.org/campgrounds-rv-parks/#&&page=0&sort=&miles=20&ips=B511&dt=2014-05-04&dte=2014-05-11&rpp=0 One campground I can recommend that is located on a Top 100 lake (Mullett Lake) and connected to a second one (Burt Lake) is Aloha State Park. Later half of September, into most of October puts you right on the fall smallmouth bite. The campground has sites right on the boat basin where you can slide right up on shore behind your campsite. Here's the link to that campground. http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/details.aspx?id=434&type=SPRK 1 Quote
FrankW Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Hi stratos4me, You should have a campground travel guide. They have information about facilities available at each campground. Those located at lakes/rivers should tell you what you need to know. Frank Quote
stratos4me Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 I've been down the road of various campground guides and found them to be inadequate when it comes to identifying campgrounds with electrified docks. Even many campground's own web sites don't offer that information. It makes for a long process of research and phone calls. I really need first hand info. Thanks Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 Tiger Musky Resort on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward,WI has outlets right down by the docks to you can keep your boat in the water. I don't know if your interested in coming up that far north but the fishing is great! Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted May 6, 2014 Super User Posted May 6, 2014 Thanks. That place looks really cool, but it seems to be very musky centered. What is the bass fishing like? There are a lot of people who fish Muskies there and it's pretty decent for that from what I've heard. With exceptions of the Great Lakes, the flowage offers some of the best bass fishing in Wisconsin. Actually the smallie in my profile picture was caught up there, and the picture was taken at none other than Tiger Musky! It's also one of the pretties lakes you'll find too with very little developed shoreline. If you do come up that way let me know and I'll find some time to get up there and meet up with you. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 6, 2014 Super User Posted May 6, 2014 Not sure of the size of your motorhome , but the lakes here in Va have some really nice state parks attached to our fisheries , not much in the way of powered slips but the boat ramps are plenty big enough to accommodate using a motorhome to launch with , Claytor Lake , Smith Mountain Lake , Kerr Lake ( Buggs Island ) , Lake Anna .Some do offer services and or options to launch and store your boat during your stay . What a great plan , I wish you well in your travels !! Quote
lmoore Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Celena RV Park on the Okiboji chain in NW Iowa has dockside hookups. Top 100 lake. http://www.okobojicamping.com/ Kalbus Country Harbor on Lake Winnebago also has them. not sure if it was a top 100 lake or not, but the fishing can be excellent and it's a really neat area. We were there last June/July and found some both deep and up in the muck throwing frogs. http://kalbuscountryharbor.com/ Quote
