Super User slonezp Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 LOL! That was funny. No drunks either. The "good" brothers will either make them drag, or wait for them in the parking lot. Stuff like that isn't tolerated on the job sites I'm working on. It may be more common on some of the other job sites. The power house jobs will give you a never never, (never eligible for rehire) regardless of what trade you try an come back out there with. Southern Company runs most the power houses in the south. So that nixes a large chunk of available jobs. I think there is a big difference in the skilled trades vs a manufacturing facility or the public sector jobs as far as the unions are concerned. Even in my union there are big differences between the service and construction guys and how the shops handle things. A "skilled trade" shop has more control over their production, so to speak. It's easier for them to weed thru employees to find quality. I'd be hard pressed to find a guy/gal in a manufacturing or public union be able to command their own wages above and beyond scale based on their own talent. That does not happen in those scenarios. I quit my employer 2 weeks before I tore up my shoulder. They/we negotiated a hell of a deal with me to keep me around. (So much for that LOL). I get paid for what I know, not for what I do(did). That's the difference. 1

ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Ok i know I said I wouldn't post again. But there has been a bizarre change in events.. Ok so I get called to the office which is uasly to walk someone out or they have called for a union rep.. So I go up and as I get closer I can see inside and this guy is sitting in there so automatically I assume I'm gonna be walking this guy out.. I walk in and my boss said to me have a seat now I'm pondering in my head what's going on.. Then he proceeds to tell me we have decided to make this said employee a team lead which is a non traditional spot they put people they want to eventually make bosses. Basically they are the bosses b*** till they get full promotion.. Now one of two things is either going on A. This said employee has been polishing upper brass knobs or B. They are MO ing him to this position cause he will have no union to back him up.. He will basically be company.. This way they can fire him and not have to worry about the union fighting for his job.. I'm totally baffled at this move I know this guy did come from Toyota and was a boss there but lost his job due to drinking.. But now it's making since to why that didn't drop this guy when this all happened.. I don't even know what the heck is going on around here at this point..
Super User F14A-B Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 I had concluded that this was out of you're hands I really believe this now....as far as what the company is up too? That's beyond me... I would simply do my job.... Others should notice, However I don't believe you have any other options, do you? Keep you're head on the swivel!
Super User Root beer Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 I told my dad this story last night and he said,"that, son, is the definition of stupid. I wouldn't tolerate that b.s. In my workplace. You do it the right way or get out." Good night, Irene! 1
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 I told my dad this story last night and he said,"that, son, is the definition of stupid. I wouldn't tolerate that b.s. In my workplace. You do it the right way or get out." Good night, Irene! And what is the right way? Obviously the company has already decided the fate of this individual. And to be quit honest I'm washing my hands of the whole situation. So when the house of cards fall I'm no where around it.. I've saw some crazy shizzy go on here before like about 8 years ago they walked a machinest out for running scrap. A month later he is a supervisor.. And still is to this day. This guy is not allowed to work in any building except the one he is in because he is has been called out for not liking women so he would find reasons to fire them before they made it full time. There is a lot of shady **** that this company pulls. Hence why we as brothers stick together instead of going against the big yellow corporate giant.. But i can can assure you of this the union is full aware of of the situation and if they do go and fire this guy there will be no grievance filed and if if there is one it will make its way to tote trash can for sure.. Or be used to get others brothers jobs back..I honestly don't think K any of realize how much power and control this company has. They basically control everything in this area if they pack up and move we are talking this town and the surrounding towns would be worse then Detroit MI.. All the small business that are dependent on this company mom and pop shops. Everything revolves around this Company.. I mean everything.. I mean even the president of the United States comes here for tours. We have had 2 in the time I've worked here. Both Bush and Obama both have come and walked through the plant.

Brian Needham Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Well post away. Dr. Raider is here to help. Dr Raider- I have a question...... see this guy I know, he is kinda in a leadership position, people look up to him and come to him to help resolve problems. The issue lies in he doesnt know what to do with a drunk crane operator. Knowing he really doesn't know how to handle THAT problem, why should I vote for him in the next election or think he is ready for leadership? Concerned 1
Super User K_Mac Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 *face palm* That may be the best response yet! ACG, I said earlier in this thread that the us versus them model no longer works. You have done your best over the course of this discussion to prove me right. I will tell you what I told a couple of guys who used to work for me, after listening to them #*&^% for weeks every evening when I started my shift: If you are that unhappy with your job and this company then you need to find something else to do. They became two of the guys I could most depend on, even though they were both really angry at the time. Your continued trashing of the company that writes your checks is no more acceptable than others trashing all unions because of your example. You are either part of the solution or the problem. You can't have it both ways. 4
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Ok so because the company decided to make this guy part of of the management team after he knowingly possible intoxicated at the time of the incident. Is my fault? I did what I thought was the rite thing by reporting what I had heard to the company anonymously.. Now just a few post back most if not all was saying this guy should be fired and not have a job. So now I bring light to the fact not only has nothing been done about it he is on his way to be a supervisor.. Makes no sense to me at all.. But keep blaming for the company's wrong doing.
Super User iabass8 Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 There's people in this thread that need to change their tampons.

Brian Needham Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 It is your fault because you let it go for so long..... it is the ENTIRE shops fault for letting it happen. You waffled in what to do, you played a marytr. Bottomline is: you put lives at risk while trying to protect the union, and that sir is wrong no matter how you dice it. you worried about your election, not the people you work with. If you were my steward I would ask you to be removed as it is proven you cant make a life and death decision...... and if you cant do that, why would I want you representing me? Even in the end you are still not willing to admit fault, or there is/was a different way of handling it. People make choices, at least you didnt die from this one.... learn from it and move on. that really all you can do, but you have to be willing to grow from mistakes made, or at least be willing to see both sides of a coin. . Is my fault?
