cjrich Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Guys, I am traveling to the Big-G on the 8th for 10 days. While the guides post daily about what type of styructure they are fishing and which baits -- they seldom (and I understand why) tell us WHERE they are fishing. I know there are guys on this board thatmay know well where it's happening about this time. I have a detailed map and great GPS chip. I'd like to make the best of my time on the water. Any "heads up" about where YOU would fish on Guntersville next week would be greatly appreciated. Thanks CJ Quote
rowyourboat Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 i was there last week for 5 days. didnt hire a guide and had never been there before. you literally cant mess up haha. i had a blast. caught my personal best which was 8lb 9oz and a handful of 5 pounders. there are so many 3-4 poun fish in that lake it isnt funny. we fished different creeks everyday. we would just start at the mouth and stop at places that looked good. caught a lot on missle baits d-bombs. also did good on buzzbaits in the morning and evening. with that said, i like honeycomb creek and siebold area. but like i said, you cant mess up down there right now. if you start fishing a creek at the mouth and work towards the back you will find fish somewhere. also try c-rig lizards. green pumpkin with the tail dipped in chart Quote
cjrich Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Nobody else has fished Guntersville in early May? 69,000 acres is a lot of lake. Just looking for a little intel ... Quote
bassdisaster Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I like putting in in spring creek and going back in the creek and fish topwater frogs or buzzbaits in the grass back there. In my opinion that is the best grass at Guntersville in spring creek. After the topwater bite come out of the creek and fish the bridge and causeway, the bridge right there is where randy Howell won the classic. I like crankin that bridge and.the rocks and then go under the bridge and fish the next one too. And then if that bite isn't working I will try to find a open water grass bed on the edge of the channel and fish the.edge of the grass with jigs or big worms. I'm not an expert but I live like 20 mins from the big G so I have fished it a lot and I consider my home lake even though Henry Neely is closer. Good luck I have no doubt you will come away from.Guntersville in love! Oh and if all else fails just fish grass you can always catch em.out of it. Quote
Basswhippa Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Go to Waterfront and follow guide Mike Gerry around as he often leaves from there in the morning and learn a few spots. You can see what he looks like by looking at The Bass Fishing Home Page and he normally is holding 5 or 6 post spawn fish, often by the gills. 1 Quote
