Super User 00 mod Posted May 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted May 3, 2014 nice catch, so are you actually trying to get credit for a state record? or just happy with your catch and knowing it could be the state record? Nope. No records here. Happy to have released it alive and well! Jeff Quote
FlipnLimits Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Congrats! Heard of these fish, haven't seen one before (other than TV). Now all will be judged by yours FL 1 Quote

Super User slonezp Posted May 3, 2014 Super User Posted May 3, 2014 It was 4" longer than me Jeff You might want to be careful in your choice of words. People might take it in the wrong context. 2 Quote
Super User Teal Posted May 3, 2014 Super User Posted May 3, 2014 Yeah Jeff, you do get a little discredited because you are the resident "little person". Just ribbing you bro, great catch! Wish I was there. 1 Quote
Traveler2586 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Did you get a weight or girth measurement? Landing that fish on 10 lb. line is a tribute to your angling skill and that of your team mates. Nice way to start a road trip. Well done. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 4, 2014 Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2014 Whats the world record for a paddlefish?? 144lbs from a pond off the Missouri River in Atchison, KS. I use to work with the nephew of the guy who caught it. He sent some pictures right after it was caught, it was a beast. http://www.kansas.com/2012/07/20/2415117/river-monsters.html 1 Quote
Traveler2586 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 . Looks like a Tuna mated with a Swordfish. Is it mounted??? 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted May 4, 2014 Super User Posted May 4, 2014 Awesome catch, on bomber cranks too citrus shad is a killer color. You need to contact bomber about this catch with there lure. Contact the reel, the rod and your line manufacturers too. They might offer you $$ or free tackle when they use your pics. Contact your boat and motor manufacturers too they got you out there I would. You earned any reward. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 Paddle fish are filter feeders, Bill. In this case, color made no difference. The only important thing for hooking one is a sharp hook. After that, it's all fish fighting skill. I've hooked 25 lb+ carp, and that's a ride. I can't imagine catching something as big as Jeff's fish. Crazy. 2 Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 Cool fish, awesome job landing that. 1 Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 Is there a plankton hook? 1 Quote

scrutch Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Wow Jeff! Too bad paddlefish isn't a listed species in the Mustad hook a million contest! Great job! I'll expect nothing less from you from now on! Move over Jeremy Wade! Jeff's the new host of the show Monster Fish! 1 Quote
Crankinstein Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Awesome catch man! and great release as well. I recently released a state record fish as too, NC hybrid bass, its always good to let those monsters continue growing and reproducing. That fish really is crazy looking like some kind of prehistoric shark, hard to believe there's creatures like that lurking in our lakes. Congrats!! A 2 Quote
