robster80 Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 tried out the stren sonic braid today. mistake. worst backlash ive ever had and pretty much had to resort to trimming line away. in the process i think every drop of green eye put on the braid got on my hands. so unsure if i wanna try more of this kind. seems everyone says sunline is the best. ive read some reviews that say its not as abrasion resistant as sufix or powerpro tho. i do have about 130 yds of powerpro left on a spool should i just use it or is there something way better out there? robster80 Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 ordered some mccoy spectra. i like their copolymer. forgot they made a braid Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 2, 2014 Super User Posted May 2, 2014 Power pro all the way. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted May 2, 2014 Super User Posted May 2, 2014 I've basically quit using braid, but the best I've used are 832, FX2, and Smackdown. Quote
robster80 Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 if mccoy doesnt work for me its back to powerpro. seems thats usually what happens when tryin different braid Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I agree that 832 is the best. Tough as nails and round. Also repels water. Quote
Blues19 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I only use Braid for my frog rod and All i have ever tried is power pro and i love it Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 3, 2014 Super User Posted May 3, 2014 Your going to get mixed input when you put "what is the best ......" on your title thread. Many of us on here have tried many different types braids and have narrowed down our go to braid through experience and time on the water. For many its Sunline, PP, Suffix, the list will go on and on. Only you will be able to determine what the "best" is. Although there are several great brands out there, I choose for the time being Power Pro. It's a braid that I have been using for years and it has never let me down. It lasts forever and I can find it cheaper at Walmart, than having to drive to a BPS or Dick's sporting goods which are both farther away from me. 1 Quote
0119 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I hate braid but when I have to use it, it's Kansen or better yet Daiwa Samurai if I can find it. Quote
Clickster Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 This board loves PowerPro and Suffix. I am a fan of Spiderwire. I love Spiderwire Ultra Cast Invisibraid. 1 Quote
Drewski73 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I used Izorline braid for years in saltwater, and had a hard time liking anything else when I started bass fishing. So, I still fish Izorline mainly. I do have 2 reels spooled with smackdown and its really nice! Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted May 3, 2014 Super User Posted May 3, 2014 I've only ever used power pro because it's readily available to me at Walmart and is like $15. I won't say it's the best because I've got nothing to compare it to but it's worked good for the past 8yrs. 1 Quote
robster80 Posted May 3, 2014 Author Posted May 3, 2014 anyone tried the mccoy? i ordered that in 65lb Quote
IAY Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 worst braid - spiderwire ez braid x2. Don't get it... Quote
thehooligan Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Ive used almost everything and im a braid nut. My favorite is sufix performance braid. Second to that would be power pro and kanzen. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 Have you tried Smackdown yet? Quote
thehooligan Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Have you tried Smackdown yet? Too pricey for me Quote

ZB85 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I really like Sunline FX2 but i dont think you can wrong with PowerPro or Suffix 832. The worst I've used is spiderwire. Quote
