Zeeso Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Bought an ascend fs12t . I wasn't looking to spend a lot but I feel I got a lot of yak per dollar if you will. Cheap, but it floats and has some pretty decent features. I have a decent sized body of water near my house that only about half of ot is fishable from shore. Went outmonday morning for just 3 hrs and caught 7 all in spots where I normally couldn't fish. A sign of things to come I hope! The casting took a little while to get used to being so low but its not going to be a problem. Ill have to come up with an anchor system as I was blowing around all over the place. And I can't wait to add a fish finder. All ready have one picked out. Exciting times I must say. 1 Quote
BigEazzzy Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Congrat's Big Z! Good stuff! I'm new to this forum, and just picked up mine 2 weeks ago, so I share your enthusiasm! Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted May 2, 2014 Super User Posted May 2, 2014 Congratulations on your new 'yak. I bought a 128T & Feelfree Lure 11.5 about a month ago. I've only taken the 11.5 out fishing, but installed an anchor trolley & folding anchor kit I picked up @ BassPro: works like a charm, took about 20 minutes to install. However, if you use rivets to fasten the Z-cleat, your rivet gun has to have a narrow head. My Marson rivet gun is too wide to fit between the Z's so I used #14 x 1" stainless screws. Hopefully I'll get out for a couple hours on mine; again, congratulations on your new 'yak. Lastly, I highly recommend Ascend's SOT cart, makes getting to the water much easier. Quote
MikeinFresno Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 if you go to a site like Hook 1 you will find rivets n such to do some attachment points. You can also go to NCKA kayak forum and find many articles on rigging including an anchor system. Quote
RipSomeLips Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Welcome to team yak. Your gonna love fishing out of it. 1 Quote
Getfit74 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I checked the Ascend fs12t last time I was at Bass Pro and really liked the looks of it. Really liked the swivel seat. Interested in what you think about it after you have it out for a few times. Seems like a great choice for the price Quote
Mattfrom_NJ Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Good luck with your boat man. It definitely beats being stuck on the banking looking at all the fishy spots you can't get to. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Nice!!! Enjoy!!! Anchor trolley is a must!!! Fish it a couple of times though before you start drilling holes and mounting stuff. Quote
bowjunkie76 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Been fishing a WS Ride 115 for several years and I love it. Agree with the above comment as to fish it a couple of times before you mount stuff. Kayaks are too much fun!!!! I seem to like the shorter rods in the kayak for ease of use. Enjoy Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 That'll be a good yak to start your kayak fishing life! Quote
