Loomis Glx, And Nrx Reel Locking Nut

I'm having a problem with the nut coming loose. Since it covered with cork, I am afraid of the cork twisting off, so I have to keep tightening it. Question, is this likely or am I being overly cautious. Is it okay just to go ahead and crank it down.

If I glued it up I'd say crank it down, but who knows what goes on in these factories. Try a wrap of plumbers teflon tape around the threads. That should help hold without getting too aggressive with the cranking.

The first round of the NRX had no stop so consequently some got broke from over cranking. Since then they have put stops on them so crank it down.

  I have a Green colored NRX, the "newest model."  It seems as though they have a stop when you go to crank it down.  They address this for a sure thing, that the stripping problem is addressed over the blue/black model, and corrected in the green.  Just use common sense, you don't need to go balls to the walls, its a fishing reel, not the lug nuts on a tractor.  Snug it down, then grab the reel and see if it has any side to side play.  It should have none or very little if even noticable. 

  I love my NRX.  I wish everyone had an opportunity to try one out, at least a few casts.  They are unbelievibly sensitive,  as well as versatile.  I took a second look at the rod before I bought it, I know it is expensive, but it IS worth the money.  Nothing else compares to it, and best of all MADE IN THE U.S.A.  Support your country, and stop buying China made bs, and prices for quality that we make, your brothers and sisters, would lessen as well.  We seem like we buy quality from each other, as americans, but why does it have to be so high?  Its because everyone is buying Chinese.  We have to stop and stand for your country.

The difference between blue and green guide wraps is the blank isn't coated on the blue series, both have the same handles. The plumbers Teflon tape will aid in tightening, may not prevent backing off, give it try. Hand tighten to snug, then turn another 1/8 turn and you should be good.

If you break the fore grip seating the reel it will cost you $100 to replace the rod.

I have never bought a rod from ALF but I will eventually. I think Option 2 is pretty kick butt on their part.

 

 

Option 2: Didn't Buy your G. Loomis rods from ALFC but still want to Receive Warranty Rod Replacement at No Charge
