ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hello i have 2014 bass Tracker Pro team txw wanting to Lengthen the rod holders 6 of them are 6 1/2 long need to fit 7.4 rods in there. Any suggestions or has someone done this before. I have searched high and low and can't find any info on this. It is just floating foam at the end I thought about taking a old rod and just poking it there and waller it out some. Anyway any help would be great. thanks Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted May 1, 2014 Super User Posted May 1, 2014 If it's just foam just cut some of it. I could be a little challenging given the layout and how far up there it is. I'm not 100% sure but you might be able to gain access to it through the recessed tm tray or through the bow panel. Quote
CJV Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I seen a video on this before .... I think it was youtube. Quote
NathanW Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Remove the trolling motor pedal panel and the carpeted panel that angles up against the bow. Maybe you can see what you are dealing with. My tracker can store rods up 8' easily after I removed some foam. Use a chisel taped to a broom stick and follow it with a shop vacuum afterwords. Be careful, duh. You have got your handsfull with the layout and storage design of that boat. I went through one down at the Pheonix BPS and had some questions... Hopefully you get a lot of use out of BOTH your livewells. (; You didnt need that storage space anyways. Quote
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 The storage is fine its the rod storage i am having trouble with. And as for the live well in the front that is the main reason i got 2014 over a 2013. when you catch crappie like i do you need as much room as you can get.. I suppose the next thing you are gonna tell me is that since i put a 25hp motor on the boat it wont plane out? You know what? Your rite and i already new that but all the akes i fish are 25HP limit so any thing else you would like to tell me about the boat i purchased that i might not be aware of? I even put links for you to check out.. What the trolling motor is crap? Yep new that also thats why i put a motorguide xi5 with pinpoint 80lb 24 volt.. http://www.basspro.c...13080206213112/ What the fish finder is junk? Yep rite again.. Thats why i put a Hds 7 touch with lss2 on the dash and and a HDS 9 touch on the bow. http://www.lowrance....ouch-en-us.aspx http://www.lowrance....ouch-en-us.aspx Ok so now what the batteries and 2 bank charger is junk? Yep rite again thats why i put two http://www.sears.com...la=02850131000P and this charger http://www.amazon.co...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But thanks for your input. Quote

ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Your probably rite.. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I just don't like it when people act like i made a impulse buy on a item such as a boat.. I research everything to the fullest before I buy something... Anyway after rereading the post I saw the wink face at the end. But had already posted and since I took the time to rite it up with links I just left it. Mainly for Informational purposes.. Cause all the stuff I replaced was heavily researched and are the week links to the Trackers in my opinion.. But Yea I apologize for being a Ahole if your we're just messing around. Thanks Jeramy 1 Quote
NathanW Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 No power poles? Sorry for making you upset. You will use both livewells so that changes things. For me storage is extremely valuable and I think that Tracker (not you) is only considering a sector of anglers who, like you are meat fisherman and load up the livewells, or guys who want to fish tournaments out of an aluminum boat. There are plenty of meat guys out there sure, but I'll tell you most of them are not lucky/good enough to fill up two livewells the way that you are. On the other hand there are very few bass tournament guys that fish from aluminum. If I came out to a tourney in my 60HP Tracker I would be protested by the co-angler, trust me. If it was a buddy tournament, I wouldn't need two livewells so I just dont understand it. The older Trackers are not trimmed out as nicely but the storage space is plentiful and they are much easier to work on when making modifications/repairs below the deck, pulling new wires, etc. Other than that there are plenty of advantages to the new design. I do not blame you at all for getting one. Quote

Thanks Jeramy Researched everything except the rod storage... don't worry man...I am just joking as well...all is good- although my 2010 txw does handle 7'6'' rods no problem. Quote
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 4, 2014 Author Posted May 4, 2014 Lol you are definitely rite about that.. I assumed they would be bigger but I got it all fixed up.. Fits all these and then some in total 15rods comfortable. Quote
Crankinstein Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 You could also consider adding tubes to the large rectangular rod area in the center of the rod locker. I have the 2013 TXW and ran into the same problem. That middle area is long enough for my 7'6" flipping rod and I'm in the process of rigging some pvc style tubes together to put some of my other longer rods in there tangle free. Right now I have rod socks on them. Looks like you have a really nice set up going. Btw I'm a huge Green Bay fan as well. Quote
Christian M Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Im really glad I ran into this post! I have an older (97) Tracker TX17 and it has that stupid 6'6" rod locker. I'm gonna get in there and take some of that foam out tomorrow Quote
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I took the cover off the front makes sure you keep a eye open for wires they are quit a few ran there. But that's all did pulled the cover and cut the foam out and now I have 7.6 rods in the top 1 and 2 spots. The bottom I use for crappie poles.. Cause there is no lengthen those.. But it worked like a charm and took me about 45 mins to do. Quote

If someone protested me for doing that I'd throw them in the lake to give them an actual reason to protest. 1 Quote
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 80% of the tournements in my area are 25HP limit. And 90% of the guys fish with a aluminum boat. Maybe more.. Quote
ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 I have a fiberglass boat its just not a fishing boat. and i think Rolling up to a tourny in a 28ft boat with 800hp and all my fishing gear they would probably laugh there ass off at me. I gureentee i would be the fastes on the lake.. Lol Quote

ShimanoDobynsGuy Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 That sounds like fun. its not the tourney directors choice. Its just that most of all the lakes that have great fishing are all 25hp limit. Im not saying i agree with these rules but the state fish and game are the one that set the rules. Honestly i would rather have great electronics and a small motor im not fishing with the motor but i sure am using waypoints and sonar all of the time. If i want to go fast i get the speed boat out and head to the river. I love the 25 4 stroke whenit comes to fuel cost. 70.00 to fill it and its still 3/4 full and have been using every weekend for a month. When i fill the speed boat up it cost 600.00 and last me 2 days. Granite i have to run 110 octane cause of the blower and high compreshion im running. Quote
