Do y'all notice a scent loss or anything when storing plastics in boxes rather than in their original packaging?... Y'all are about to successfully convert me to a plastics-in-boxes guy...

Doesn't matter to me, I use Megastrike on everything anyways.

I got the Plano Guide bag for 3700 boxes and it works so much better than bags for me. Bags were hard to sort through and moved around too much.

I primarily bank fish for now so I just check the small Planos I carry with me before I leave the truck and fill them up with whatever I'm going to use.

I have a feeling he understands it but has a found a way that works better for him. How hard is THAT to understand...

As for the question, I like to organize everything in plano boxes. It's just much easier for me to have a Craw box, Beaver box, trick worm box, Trailer box, etc. It's so much easier for me to stay organized and be able to just open up a hatch and see the box I need instead of searching through bags. Some things I keep in their bags but not many.

What box do you store your beavers and craws in?

I guess I am just more efficient at storing them in bags, because it doesn't take me long at all.

I think the Ziploc method is huge pain in the butt.  I'm glad you love it so much.  It isn't necessary to argue how superior your method is.  The question was whether plastics will color the Plano boxes.

OP:

Some of my older boxes have discolored over time from storing plastics in them, but they're so old and scratched up, it doesn't matter to me.  You can't see through them anyway.  Lately I've been string my plastics in the bag ANNNNND in a box.  Yer both right!

recently took advantage of the spring fishing sale at bass pro and got 5 new bass pro brand planos which now have most of my soft plastics stored in them. It is so easy to get everything in these boxes and they can be organized however you want. personally i went with size and colour i will upload some pics when i get home

I bank fish and recently put some of my more commonly used plastics in an Ozark Trail branded box. It's the perfect size for about 8 different plastics. It's more organized than a bunch of bags shoved in my backpack.

Id have to say you are wrong. My wormbox had significant dicoloration and the worms dry out over time, not too much. So yes it works, but invest in a simple sandwich bag to keep them in there.

I am a big fan of using Plano boxes for soft plastics. However two issues I ran into last year was 1) carrying way too Much and 2) using Berkley power bait scent dried out and caused this flaking in the plastics, not a huge deal rinsed off with some water.

This year I am going to Plano 3601 thin boxes to force my self to carry less and not sure if I will presoak the baits before I put then in or just pour in some scent like I did last time. Probably just soak them in a Ziploc bag and then put them in the boxes.

For those who prefer to keep their plastics in their original packaging, one trick for those plastics that aren't in resealable bags, Roboworms come to mind, is to snip off a 1/2" triangle from the lower corner where the worms' heads are facing. Then, you grab the package by the other end and tap it a few times against your palm. It sort of looks like someone tapping out a cigarette from a pack. As soon as one of the heads sort of pops out the bottom, you just pull it out by the head.

I'd use this for plastics packaged in lots of oily fluids, like some Keitechs. Some Keitechs and several other brands are noticeably oily or wet coming out of their packaging; others are at least "not dry" but will do so once exposed to air.

After you clip off the corner, the oily stuff sort of reseals the package. If not, at the end of the day, put a bit of clear tape over it until next time.

I have plastics that have been in boxes for close to 20 years and they are as good as new and I still use some. I actually have rinsed the oil off of some baits (some companies put way too much in the bag) before I box them up and add my own scent when I fish.

My issues with the bags is that I have had way to many baits get a kink in them from being in the package. I really like the Rage packaging, just refuse to pay the price unless they are on sale, then I stock up.
