Lendiesel22 Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 looking at everything mentioned, thanks much Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted May 1, 2014 Super User Posted May 1, 2014 *** was a nice rod. The blanks are great, feel like a $200+ rod. The rest of it, they can keep it. The guides felt extremely cheap, the reel seat was not comfortable to hold, and the handles were extremely short for my liking, which made the rod tip heavy. Othwerwise, I enjoyed using them. That's the casting rod anyway. The spinning rod has the same cheap guides, but the handles are absolutely fantastic to fish with. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 1, 2014 Super User Posted May 1, 2014 $575 will buy quite a few $79.99 Veritas's . Great rod at the old $99 price, even better at $79 Quote
Blues19 Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 my needs are a 7-4ish frog/swim bait rod which I would think would serve as a spinner bait rod as well, something for jigs, something for plastics, and jerkbaits. I have been a croix guy my whole life so I will be looking at the rage rods as well. Since you are a St. Croix guy, I would look at the 7' MH Mojo Bass for the Frog/Swimbait/Spinnerbait. It will only run you around $110 and its a nice rod Quote

It is extremely versatile and fits the bill for what you described above. Quote
CDMeyer Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 If you are just getting new rods..... I would get Abu Garcia Veracity to use as a crank bait rod..... then I would get a verity of veritas and Vendetta with the rest of the money Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 14, 2014 Super User Posted July 14, 2014 I have a 7'3" Fenwick Elite Tech Heavy Fast. This rod had been discontinued. But if the new ones are anything like the old, it would be a great rod even though it is for smallmouth and it is in your budget. These rods are not a super sensitive but they are not bad. The one I have is meant to take a beating. I use it for punching the heavy stuff, frogs and carolina rigs. It has yet to let me down. Quote
