airborne_angler Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 How long has this bait been around. Anyone still use it with success? Anyone used it in the past with success? Any other suggestions of trailers? http://diegoflores.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/mepps-timber-doodle1.jpg Quote

Anyone used it in the past with success?http://diegoflores.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/mepps-timber-doodle1.jpg I have a gold one and a silver one... Works fairly well, casts a mile & is well made. Out of all these types of bait the Johnson Silver Minnow is by far and away my best producer. Quote
Handy Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I have 2 of them and have yet to catch anything on them. And as stated by wanderlust the Johnson silver minnow does better. I don't have one but my brother does and he usually catches quite a few fish a year on it. Paul Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 12, 2011 Super User Posted March 12, 2011 It's been around for years and like any other bait it will catch fish if you use it where the fish are. Quote
WanderLust Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 If you use it like a swim jig (e.g. bed fishing) I would suggest a white double tail grub or Mr. Twister. If you stick with it I'm sure you'll have success. Quote
jdw174 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I had great success with the TimberDoodle while fishing the backwaters of Lake Erie and other northern lakes. The 4-tailed grub that comes with them as a trailer was all I ever used. Works great working around lily pads and grass. Quote
