midnighthrasher Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I dont understand why everyone is giving these baits a hard time. Has everyone tried them??? Do you not try something before criticizing it??? All of the posts seem to have re-ocuring problems. Scent, Price and Innovation. Here are my comments on those 3 topics: SCENT : I like the fact that there is no scent. That way i can smear Megastrike all over them. PRICE : These baits are super cheap. These baits are great for people starting out who dont have the dollars to put on expensive plastic baits. INNOVATION : Althought they are not reinventing the wheel they are different. COLORS : I think their color selection is great I think what they are trying to do is offer a line of products that are cheap and give a bait in every category. All they need to add is a power worm, a tube and a senko type bait and you can basically cover all your bases. I will definetly try the Spear, the wide load and the slop craw. Quote
bassking1976 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 im with u midnight i myself love the price as im a low budget basser love them cheap baits and if they produce even better if they dont i didnt drop $6 finding out for example just bought big bite fighting frog for only 2.99 too n it has scent so very excited to throw it come summer as for havoc i like lane's swimbait and fatty craw Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 for the price alone they are worth buying a few bags. I love the new designs, and the colors are great. People who knock them before trying them, have nothing better to do with their time than to negate everything... Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 I was standing next to Ike while Ish Monroe tried out the spear for the first time, in the pool at the Nashville Radisson. It took all of one cast for me to say I gotta get me some of these. Went to BPS in St Charles for their spring wing-ding. They had no Havoc baits at all. Drove over to Cabelas. They had some. I bought all the spears they had. Haven't used them yet. My work schedule is nuts right now, and the weather is not cooperating. Next week I will get out, and these are probably the first bait I'll throw. Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 i bought ikes bait looks very different but simple cant wait to try them out Quote

BrASSmonkey Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I too am liking the Spear and the wide load. The spear looks like it would be a great leech or baitfish imitation - especailly with the way the lure undulates in the water. Quote
Hot Rod Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Went to the tackle shop last weekend with my 3 year old son. We spent an hour or so looking at lures, talking about each one as we looked them over. I told him he could pick something out (only three, and he is already a Bait Monkey victim!) Somehow I had missed seeing the Havoc display which was off by itself. He went right over to he Havoc display and grabbed a pack of the Bobby Lane baits. Nuff said Good looking bait so of course "Dad" had to have a few packs too since I know the boy won't share his, ha. Guess the Bait Monkey gene is hereditary. ;D Can't wait to try them out. "Haters" please keep on hating that way the fish won't see the Havocs before I throw 'em. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 11, 2011 Super User Posted March 11, 2011 The now ones do nothing for me...the Slop Craw just looks laughable for some reason. I bought some of the Devil Spears and am going to get some on the pit boss'. Great prices but some of the baits lack appeal but wait....NO SCENT???..How can berkley make a bait without the Powerbait scent :-? ...most baits I use aren't scented anyway though. JJ's over powers most scents anyway Quote

It has a very nice rippling action while moving; both horizontally and vertically. Not a wild rage tail type action; it is more subtle. It just looked very effective to me. Quote
Incheon Basser Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 It is in cases like this when the real anglers are separated from the weekend trend followers..I don't buy any bait because of who's name is on it I buy a bait based on action and action alone. If you didn't see what I saw in the spear in five seconds then by all means please don't use them and if you don't know what makes the craw fatty special and if you haven't seen the difference in action then by all means don't buy them ... Leaves more for me Quote
