What's the difference or use of a football jig as compared to using any other type of jig?

Better in the rock and open water than a grass jig. I've even been using smaller ones around the docks with good success. Just not great when weeds are around.

Right on, I just started Jig fishing and have been trying to get the hang of it. I got worm fishing down to a science so I thought I would try something new. Do you use trailers for the football headed ones as well?

I like a trailer on ALMOST all Jigs. (I like to try and slow the fall up a bit) so yep trailer on Football head jigs for me.  :)

Yes.

I've been using the 1/4 oz. finesse football jig from strike king with success around rip rap.

Thanks all for your input, I'll be back at the jig fishing Saturday on Lake Curtis.

I agree with everyone

I drag or snap the football jig where there is rock or sand bottom with some light weeds. If it is real weedy than I go back to the grass jig.
