Here is a video I have seen a time or two. Best fail at loading a boat ever.. Best yet it was by the police.

One time I was bank fishing across from a boat ramp.  Three Older guys pull up in there jon boat.. They were drunk as all get out. It took them probably 30 minutes to load all there gear, rods, reels, coolers etc.  They backed the boat in the water got it off the trailer and one of them tied the front end of the boat to a pole.  All three got in fired up there little motor and punched it. The rope had gotten underneath the boat and none of them untied it.  I swear I set there as the boat nose dived, and went straight down. And the back end came out of the water and stood up,  It threw the guy in the back running the motor over the other 2 guys into the water all three were thrown  out. I guess two of the guys couldn't swim and were yelling and screaming like little girls, Help!!  Help!! I'm drowning beating and thrashing in the water.  The other guy had gotten out of the water and was on the bank, He started yelling at his buddies to shut the hell up and just stand up the water was only 3 feet deep.  They stood up walked out of the water there buddy who could swim did the best he could to get there rods and reels back, they loaded it all back on the truck and left.  True Story!!  I have never laughed so hard in my life.

I watched a guy back his new boat up to the ramp for it's maiden voyage. With the boat some 20 or more feet from the edge of the water, he got out of the car, unhooked the winch cable and the strap on the back of the boat. He then got back in his truck and started backing down the ramp and for some reason hit the brake. Sure enough, the boat rolled right off the new trailer and landed high and dry on the ramp.

Another time, guy was backing down the ramp and had the drivers door open while he leaned out to back the boat down the ramp. The ramp was going down, the dock was level and just before the door of the car caught the dock I yelled for him to stop. He did make it in time.

About the 3d time I launched my first boat I took my 19 year old son along. The boat was in the water and I casually walked back down to the dock just to hear my son say "Dad, is there supposed to be water coming in the back of the boat like that?" No sense of urgency what so ever, just kind of mentions it after I got back. Wow. After we finally got on the water it was good laugh! No, I didn't get mad......

My little sister likes collecting all of my old beat up plastic worms. So I had a bunch of old sencos that I thought shed like to play with and I gave them to her. Well she took a bunch of to the neighborhood pool and left a green pumpkin black senco right next to the water. Well, the next day two older people came with their grandson, and he ran to it a yelled,"Oh, look a slug!" The grandpa went over to it, while the grandma was freaking out, started poking at with his kife and cut it in half.  A few min. later, the kid went over to it and picked up and started chasing his grandma with it! The grandma made him throw it in the bushes. That had to be the funniest thing fishing related Ive seen in a while!

The other day I sat down to tie on a spinnerbait, I put a trailer hook on and I tossed it over the side of the boat. Unfortunately I missed the important step of tying the lure on the line.

I have done this a couple of times. Most regretable time was with a brand new Terminator T-1, its not so bad when you do it with a crankbait, just look stupid.

Reading these is causing stress and anxiety. I should stop. Seen most of this first hand, made a couple of the same mistakes, have a sprung driver side door to show for it. Witnessed a guy get cold clocked several years ago for offering help to another guy trying to back his trailer and refusing. Cops were already on their way due to a prior fist fight at the ramp (Memorial Day Weekend, Vantage WA), only thing funny about this was thier tribal arm band tatoos.

 

On another note I will never own a trailer with rolling bunks because winch strap fail, I have seen it first hand. Finally, I am thankfull we are not required to pull the plug while in transport here in Washington because the first day of the season is the only day I will likely attempt to sink my boat (Learned to turn the bilge pump on a stay calm, water goes out faster than it comes in when you have a good pump).

I fish a lot of lakes that are very busy on the weekend. There is always a bunch of people loading and unloading. It was around noon and we were just getting to the lake. Most people were loading there boats, done fishing for the day. There was a very old couple loading there small boat. It took them nearly 20 minutes to load there boat.  We were two trailers back in line waiting. After the older couple had just pulled out of the launch the guy in the next truck and trailer yells out of his window. " I will show them how its done. " He backs down his trailer first try, like a pro. His buddy drives his huge ranger with a 250 mph engine and dual power poles onto the trailer.   The guy in the boat yells " Okay. Pull it up." The guy in the truck is pulling the boat into the parking lot as the entire boat slides off the trailer, with a guy still in it, right onto the pavement. It made a terrible scraping crunching sound. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing. They heard us laughing. We couldn't stop. Hopefully those guys learned there lesson.

I saw a family trying to launch a big yacht, they scewed something up, and the mom decided to call the dad some 'choice words'. The daughter (who was probably 7 or 8), then yelled out loud: (MOMMY, WHAT DOES ____________ MEAN?).

Watching a 1968 Volkswagen beetle come up to a launch ramp and launch a decent size boat.  i have a video of that somewhere

We used to catfish at night beside the shy beaver launch @ Raystown. Had a group of 5 guys, all just drunk as skunks, launch a ski type boat load their two coolers of beer and take off. Fairly normal, except the left their dog on shore! He hung out with us while we fished!

 

Next thing you know, here comes a boat blowing threw the no wake right at the ramp. About 50 feet out they cut the engine and drive it right up the ramp!!!! Ends up the drunk guys forgot to put the plug in! The boat was like 3/4 of the way up on shore and it took all seven of us tp push it back into the lake (after they put the plug in)!!  

 

They did take the dog the second time!!!!

I pulled a good one about 2-3 weeks ago, tried the ol bill dance launch where I never took the straps off the trailer. I blame the morning because I had a tournament I didnt make cause I set the alarm for sat instead of sunday and was just not focusing. I did smoke the fish though but boy I felt dumb.

Same thing happened to me and David Galbraith at the Rudds Creek Landing on Buggs Island for one of the Virginia FLW Region 3 bass tournaments.

 

Dave got called away from his boat as he was getting it ready to launch in order to help another boater and he forgot to unhook the stern straps.

 

Sure enough, we are both in the boat as one of our friends tries to launch us and the boat won't go into the water.  We were sitting in the boat like idiots not knowing what was going on.

 

We finally figured out the problem and with the help of Billy Harrington, the guy backing us into the water, we got the straps unhooked and away we went.

 

I was laughing about it as it was happening. Dave was not happy with me thinking it was funny.

 

But it was funny.

I backed in, got in, tried to pull off, couldnt figure it out, backed in further and still couldnt get it off. Then a guy flipping the docks said... no way that boat didnt float that deep its gotta still be strapped. I immediately said "Youre exactly right what it is, I never took them off" I was out of it that morning.

Pulled up to launch my boat, saw a SUV and trailer almost completely submerged. I was politely told by the Police Officer the ramp is closed today.

I pulled up to a ramp and saw a guy down in the water working on his jetski.  After about 30 mins of repair the guy jumped up on his ski, fired it up, and started to back out.  Just about that time I saw the rope attached to the front of the jetski fall into the water, followed by a "RRRRIIIIIIIPPPP" and his motor shut down.  He tried to start it up a couple times till I told him that he sucked the rope up into the motor, haha.  He was so ticked at himself and all I could do was turn the other way and laugh.

I was launching at a smaller electric only lake in the fall when the water temps had dropped.  I have a rope I attach to the boat and tie off on the trailer.  With the rope attached as it should I backed into the water the boat floats off as it should but when I pulled forward the tension on the rope caused the old rope to break at the clasp on the boat end. The boat starts drifting out and the water is too cold to swim out to it. The wind blew the boat all the way across the lake and I had hike a good distance to retrieve the boat. Plan B was drive home get my kayak and paddle out to the boat.

 

The lesson I learned is when you melt the frayed ends of nylon rope so it won't unravel it weakens the rope.

I was frog fishing once and I heard a biggin jump to my left. I had just made a cast and I start burning in the frog to make a cast that way. not two feet from the boat, a big bass explodes on my frog. it scared the hell out of me and I almost fell out of the boat! Didn't hook him though...

#1 has to be from when i was a teenager it was me my brother and my dad out on this day and my brother is the worlds worst to wind up in a tree give him a rod and reel and he could find a tree in the sahara  but anyway he was fishing with a texas rigged worm with 5/16 or 3/8 sinker and sure enough he hung a cedar he also has a bad habit of pulling the rod straight back and woosh it hit pap square in the fore head needless and i cant help it it took all i had not to laugh. #2 i was fishing a squarebill around shallow docks i had a good fish swirl up on the bait i set the hook which in turn sent the crankbait towards my face i reacted by blocking my face and wound up with a both hooks buried pat the barbs in my arm. #3 was with my dads boat i had launched him and he normally has the motor running by the times i get there not this time he was cussing the johnson and calling it everything under the sun at which point i told him to hook up the kill switch he has yet to live that one down

My dad and I took off from his own boat ramp without the drain plug. We barely made it back under power. Had to winch it on the trailer and drain it before we could go again.

 

My dad and his friend threw a big brushpile off the front of our pontoon and the rope they used to secure the blocks got looped around his friend's heel. It yanked his feet out from under him and he went in. But it didn't wrap either foot. That could have ended a lot worse. They did it at night so no none would see their honey hole.

 

I got my kayak to the reservoir with no paddle.

 

I was just about to take my boat to a mechanic when my dad asked if I'd checked the kill switch. Son of a !@#$*! I missed most of a fishing season because I didn't really have the money for the mechanic.

 

My mom, God rest her soul, made the mistake of walking up behind my dad while he was chunking a crankbait. He hit her right on top of the head, but she got no hooks. He never lived that one down.
