Insanity Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Hey guys I got a 12 ft semi v. I'm working on. I'm going to deck it out as best I can with a carpeted floor live well and all. So I'd like to see pics to get more ideas. Post yours and any sites you no of please. Like ( Tin Boats ) I think we need a tin boat pic sticky. I never get tired of seeing old boats made new. wish I'd taken pics of mine full of leaves and green moss when I got it till now with paint. Flooring it this weekend. Quote
frantzracing0 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I would reconsider decking a 12' semi v. Stability will be a big issue especially once you consider the weight of adding frame, deck, live well, gear etc. They are great to fish out of (I just got a 12' smokercraft semi v as well) but they just arent meant to be a bass boat. Enjoy it for what it is and fish the crap out of it. Mine is a 12' extra wide and I still wouldnt want to stand on a raised platform in it. I just sit on a seat and I do just fine with it. Now I do plan to add a raised deck between the two main benches, not to stand on, but to use as tackle and gear storage Quote

At least that's how I read it Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 If you're adding weight, you need to add floatation. Quote

Insanity Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Update. Nope I floored the front and back leaving the center floor space open. To get down low encase! And to run an out board if I get one. Floatation might be an issue then. Still got to carpet the rear deck. ( pics then, if I can figure out how to resize them. ) I used two pedestal seats. So I'm not walking around much. It stays in my shop in the dry so I didn't use pressure treated and kept it light as possible. I'd guess it with seats and all at under 100 llbs extra weight. Works great with me and my son. More stable then I would have thought. And still high in the water. Sits great actually. I didn't do the live well. It's was just to much trouble on the v floor. But I have three dry boxes in front now. And one large in the rear. And I'm darn tickled with it. Note to every one do not use Lowes exterior carpet glue on exterior anything! The darn stuff does not dry water proof like it says. Doesn't dry at all for that matter. After two weeks drying I took it out fishing and got rained on. What a freacking mess. Quote
starcraft1 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks all for the tips. I bought a 1962 Valco -14' last winter and I know it doesn't leak, it was full of water, oak leaves, and pine needles. Dry as a bone on the out side! I think some hippy owned it at one time because of the paint job - oh boy, it's got some paint job! I'll check into tin boats.net Thanks again Quote

Same exact thing happened to me, now I have to reglue the back deck with the stuff from the depot. Quote
