Hooked Hand Help

Hey guys I was fishing today and had a dink bass barely hook me in the hand with my treble hooks. It was a brand new crankbait and it was my first fish on it. I felt the hook go in but it didnt go past the barb and when the fish shook the hooks popped right out. I have four tiny marks from the hooks but they didnt really bleed. I am just concerned because my hand is a little bit sore ( tender around the area) and a little red around the area. Is that common? Ive pegged myself before ( above the barb) and it wasnt sore after.  It doesnt hurt that bad I was just wondering if I should get it checked out before my hand falls off.

depends on where you get hooked.  A nice meaty area will be more sore in my experience than in a finger.  

 

IF the area is swollen, warm to the touch or abnormally red, go to the doctor and have it necked out.  It may be getting infected and the doc will tell you that and give you some antibiotics or something if needed.

Sometimes it stings for just a second, other times it hurts like mad and lingers for awhile. But bottom line is, only you know how it feels. So if something doesn't seem right and you're worried about it, see a doctor.

Some rubbing alcohol for the wound and some sipping alcohol for the pain. I wouldn't worry unless you have the redness and tenderness move up your hand/arm

Don't know much about tetanus but it's a good idea you and every other fisherman is up to date on the shot.

X2, make sure your tetanus vaccine is up to date and just keep an eye on it. If it's discharging a lot, hot to the touch, or more tender than you think it should be then go to the doctor. It's better to error on the side of caution on deals like that.

Two years ago I put my knee down on my deck and in a pile of bass jigs! And I found a 3/8 flippin jig in my knee,all the way in. I never felt it go in. I was guiding two guys at the time so, that was not cool. Another boat came over because he had a wire cutter,and that did not work.We ended pushing it all the way through and out the other side ( talk about pain )so once we got it we just cut the jig and pulled the hook out. And I was sore for about 3 or 4 days, and I am still puffin air with no problems! You should be fine buddy.But always good to be up on your shots too!

Put a dab of honey on an open wound,it will keep it from getting infected. (look up the benefits of raw honey and its healing practices)    Next time take a big swig of Knob creek bourbon before removing the hook.

X3  on the tetanus shot.  Keep it updated.  Might be the most important preventive shot you can get.

I knew I would be fine . I have had a staff infection before and I know tenderness is a sign of possible infection. Ive seen people get infections from being spiked by a bluegill So I wasnt sure if bass could carry something.

That's just funny right there.  I agree with the rest though, update the shot record and keep an eye on the swelling/tenderness, etc.
