Gotfishyfingers? Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I'm in the NC/ Charlotte area quit a bit. Funny, I fished Wylie Friday, Hickory yesterday and Norman today . All lakes were active with spots and largemouth, lots of bites. I only managed 2 spots on Hickory but one was a nice 2 1/4. The other two lakes, I caught probably a dozen but nothing over 1-1/2 lbs. I've been throwing a shakey head mostly but I've caught them on spinner, jerk crank baits, A-rig, swim baits etc. Tried throwing a jig and carolina rig also but not takers.. Water temps are rising fast to, saw 71 today on Norman and mid 60's on Hickory. The new moon is coming, they''ll be some spawners moving up. Next full moon watch out!! 1 Quote
dbeam Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Thanks for the update on the Catawba, I am going to try to get out to Hickory Friday morning. Darrell Quote
Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 I think Fishy Fingers is probely the closest to me. I fish Wylie, Norman, Mtn. Island, and this summer I got a tournament on High Rock. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 3, 2014 Super User Posted May 3, 2014 Morganton NC here..... I fish mainly Rhodhiss with an occasional trip to Hickory. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 3, 2014 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 3, 2014 I grew up on Norman on Skippers Cove. I live in Florida now and have since 1987 but the memories of a 10' jon boat and a golden retriever running all over the lake are my favorite. Quote
Jeezer Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Currently living in northern VA but from Wilmington. Looking to get back ASAP Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 4, 2014 Super User Posted May 4, 2014 Jeezer, The fish In my avatar came from a pond outside of Burgaw. If you get back down to Wilmington let me know and I'll get down that way and we'll fish. I'll also extend that Invitation to all the NC folks! Quote
Jeezer Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Whitwolf, sounds great. We plan on moving back in august. Looking forward to it. Quote
STPC Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Jeezer, The fish In my avatar came from a pond outside of Burgaw. If you get back down to Wilmington let me know and I'll get down that way and we'll fish. I'll also extend that Invitation to all the NC folks! I live in the big town of Burgaw. Was wondering which pond you were fishing? Seems you have to know a lot of folks here to fish any of the ponds as they are mostly privately owned. Stephen Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 7, 2014 Super User Posted May 7, 2014 STPC, It's a family owned pond. It doesn't get a lot of pressure, or at least my brother who lives In Burgaw, doesn't think so. It's a pristine place and I have been fishing there since the 80's. I'm going to be down that way during the 4rth of July, pm me and we'll see If we can fish some. Quote
MO_LMB Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 My family (Wife + 2 kids + 1 on the way) is moving from Missouri to NC in August. My company is relocating and I will be living in the Greensboro area. I'd be happy to meet up with some guys and see what your fine state has to offer. Looking forward to a new adventure. Quote
Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 I dont know what the average size is in MO but Norman is a really upsetting lake. You here about all these big fish being caught from the lake but the biggest Ive seen was 4 pounds that my dad hooked into but it came off at the boat. But on the good side the population of fish is good and since the fish are spots they fight REALLY good Quote
Braden3312 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I just joined and I'm live 5 minutes from high rock lake Quote

Drew Cline Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 HI guys new to the forum but not fishing. I live in the Lexington area. Always looking for someone to fish with. Quote
J33wolf Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I moved to Greensboro in February. It's a little hard for me to get out fishing with 3 little kids (ages 5,3,1). I have hit a few area ponds to do some bank fishing but haven't had too much luck. I'm looking into possibly getting a trolling motor so when I do get some time I can try renting one of the Jon Boats at one of the city lakes. Even if it's not great, it would be a nice change from bank fishing. If you all have any ponds you know of and are willing to share, shoot me a PM. Take care. Quote
