I use my spinnerbait rod for chatterbaits too, I know there is a few anglers that use a moderate fast for chatterbaits and you can use that too but I don't have any hooking problems with a fast action so use what you have for the spinnerbait and don't worry unless you miss a lot of fish.

Anytime I use a chatterbait I use my crankbait rod which is moderate action. Iv caught fish on it, but it would probably be more beneficial to use a stiffer rod, at least thats my opinion.

I treat it like a jig rod because I've got a big Ol Exposed hook. I really like a xf or F action. I want to be able to get a good quick hookset. Now the timing on the hookset and when you feel the bump or weight on your line is something I've learned.

A 7'mh f or xf is really all you need. No need to get super particular for the sake of it.

I rarely use split tails. I mostly ill use paddletails, grubs and craws. ( in that order)
