airborne_angler Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 NOT IMPRESSED. Bait monkey must be asleep... http://www.***.com/catpage-TWNEWS07.html Quote
hookingem Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 He has been asleep the whole havoc series IMO. On a positive note they are reasonably priced. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 He has been asleep the whole havoc series IMO. On a positive note they are reasonably priced. Agreed about the price. The skinny dipper knock off looks interesting. That Skeet craw doesn't look bad either. The price is definitely an attractive selling point. Quote
Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 the price is great, and I think the color selections are good. I like the way they look kind of hard edged. I'll definitely try some of them out Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 not really impressed with any of the baits, as most look like knock offs.. Quote
hookingem Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 not really impressed with any of the baits, as most look like knock offs..I feel like almost all the "new" baits produced nowadays are knock offs in one way or another. I'm impressed when I actually see and innovative design regardless of if I think it will catch fish or not. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 not really impressed with any of the baits, as most look like knock offs.. True, But nowadays, there isn't much more that you can design. there is only so many ways you can make something look like a crawfish, worm, etc.. Quote
central.PA.bass Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 and i'm definitely going to try the swimbaits.. they are a lot cheaper than skinny dippers! Quote
Super User CWB Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 X2 to both posts above. The Craw Fatty looks good too. Ikes Spear might even get a look. At that price, definitely worth a try. Very few baits that are not "knockoffs" of something else or at least copied some aspect of it. Skinney Dipper is good example. How many soft swimbaits are out there? Good bait at good price = sales. Bobby Uhrig Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 For the last 25 years they have done nothing but pushed "taste and smell" -- I just dont get the strategy- I'd like to go in there and play- Watch and learn Berkley !!!! Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Berkley must have a plan but I sure can't figure it out. Power Baits are some of my favorite , but I am not very impressed with this new line. I have a few to try and time will tell. Quote
Morelures Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 They know most people who use there stuff like the scent. So its a marketing strategy they can use in there favor by not adding the scent (Since most people will still buy them, based on all the hype anyways). They put out a line of baits that they put a ton of money/marketing into that most people will still buy, without there big trademark "scent/taste". A bunch of people complain and then they release a version that has there scent resulting in DOUBLE SALES. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 10, 2011 Super User Posted March 10, 2011 Interesting. Two threads lately on these baits, and the negative comments keep coming. Very strange for a line of baits that has yet to see the water. I'll bet after the bass read all these negative comments they'll turn up their noses at every one of these baits. At least it will be only the young bass refusing to eat our new baits. Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I think those of us who use a lot of Berkley baits just expect more when they release a "new line" of baits. And none of these really pass the look test. I bought a pack each of two different ones and as I said time will tell. If they catch bass I will love them. Quote
airborne_angler Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Ya know when I buy a package of baits its mainly for 2 reasons. 1. Confidence- Ive used the bait before, caught fish on it and expect to catch more. 2.Design- If a bait has some appeal to the eye, that its gonna have a certain action or realism then Im gonna give it a try. I buy bulk lots of plastic baits on Ebay. Alot of it is mixed brands of different stuff. I never know eactly what im gonna get. I sort through it and I find stuff I have used and like, and stuff I have never seen, some of which passes the design credentials for me and I keep it. Everything else, goes in a resale bin for me to relist at a later date. These New havoc baits arent doin it for me on a design level,so I dont think ill ever try em.The only way I might is is in the future,I buy a mixed lot and there a bag or 2 thrown in. Then Ill give em a whirl. I certainly am not gonna jump and buy these because they are the next big thing. I did that with the Rage Baits. I went out and spent $100 on assorted baits and styles of Ragetails. The only thing I ever caught on a Rage bait was a 8 inch Bass on a 10 inch Anaconda. Quote

If you can't catch a fish with Rage Tails you're doing something wrong. Keep throwing them, trust me. Quote
Bass Dude Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I don't get the Gary Klein twin tail grub. It's no different than any other twin tail. At least the others are somewhat original. Quote
