cutyler2 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Ok, so I have had the 200E6 for about two weeks and have started to see some issues after about the 15th or so cast. Its almost like the bearings are stripped. When I cast it doesnt even go 5-10 and front of me and makes a light screeching noise. Secondly, when I'm actually reeling my lure in its a bumpy retrieve. Not smooth like the initial casts. Is this just a dud? Any maintenance or should I send it back? Thanks! Quote
tatertester Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Try a good cleaning including flushing the bearings with acetone. Quote

IAY Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Return the reel for replacement. Completely agree. This should not be happening at all. Something is really wrong with the reel. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted April 27, 2014 Super User Posted April 27, 2014 Return the reel for replacement. x3 send in for a replacement if it's not that long ago on the purchase. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Yep, return it. You shouldn't have to work on a new reel. I have this exact reel and love it. Get you another one, you'll love it. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted April 27, 2014 Super User Posted April 27, 2014 Bought 2 Chronarch 50e's a couple of years ago, and had to return both of them, because of a screeching noise. Bought another about six months after and have never had a problem with it. Hootie Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted April 27, 2014 Super User Posted April 27, 2014 Yes I agree on returning the reel... Something's wrong! Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted April 28, 2014 Super User Posted April 28, 2014 Should NOT be doing that, you got a DUD! Quote
Super User .RM. Posted April 28, 2014 Super User Posted April 28, 2014 I agree... That dud needs returned Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Yup, return it. Shimano has good customer service. If its new enough they will repair it or replace it entirely. Quote
