I was prefishing for a tournament at LOZ a few years ago when I saw one of the craziest thing I've ever seen at the ramp. Guy backed his boat down to about 30' above the water on the ramp then got out to get his boat unstrapped and everything like I was. He sat there for a about 30 seconds when I heard several loud clicks and his truck rolled back a few inches then stopped. 30 seconds later it did it again. I assumed he noticed (it was impossible not to) but I hollered that I thought he might want to put his parking brake on. He said it was but it still rolls back a few inches every once in awhile but it was ok  :Idontknow:  I was just waiting for that whole rig to end up in the lake at the boat of the ramp when it didn't catch one of those times.

best one I saw was a guy backed his boat down the ramp after unhooking the bow latch. Roller bunks and a brand new fiberglass bass boat.  It got really ugly the first time he tapped the brakes.  I even cried.

My Father was a welder and had built a new trailer for a inboard speed boat. We went up to the lake to check the balance and put the boat into the water. Had a good boat ride and loaded up the boat to head home. My day pulled the trailer out of the water with the boat attached but he had tack welded the leaf springs to the axel and the boat and trailer came out of the water bouncing on the leave springs. Dad pulled up out of the way before he realized there was no axle or wheels under the trailer. We had a heck of a laugh over that. A guy standing there watching said he thought it was some type of new trailer.

Just last week i seen 5 guys back their 17ft fiberglass bass boat up to the water to where only the prop was touching the water. they all got out and man handled the boat into the water scraping it all the way down. ( me and my girlfriend were patiently waiting to load our boat about 30 yards away watching it unfold) they pulled their truck up after 30 mins of fighting it to the water, so nosey me had to stick around to see what happened next. After the last guy parked the truck they were coming back to pick him up, at about 40mph...never took it out of gear, never slowed down, nothing. ran it straight into the bank, they pushed it back in the water and took off. I'm still not sure that they didn't sink 5 mins later, there had to be a hole in the bow after that.

Newbs are out in force. A few weekends ago as i was walking to my boat after parking I heard"sweety help me!". Looked to see a women in a truck with a nearly jackknifed trailer Behind her. I got her to pull up straight and then got into the water pretty straight. Then she asked for more help as this was the first trip out in there brand new pontoon.

Her husband was about as good at driving a boat as she was at backing a trailer. He made close to six attemps to trailer but was using way to much steering input and would hit the trailer crooked every time. Finally he was fairly straight but the little outboard wouldn't push it on. So I just took my shoes and socks and waded out and hooked the strap on and winched it on for him. Then got to watch his wife do a sick burnout up the ramp.

I'm pretty sure I will be one of them when I get my first boat.

The worst I ever saw was back in the mid 70s at a San Antonio Bass Club weigh-in at the Medina Lake State Park ramp. There must have been about 75-80 of us watching when a BIG motor home pulled up to launch a 16' bass boat. After his multiple tries to line his rig up on the ramp, we were in hysterics. The driver was finally successful in getting his rig lined up, and then he backed it down to float the boat off the trailer. When he tried to stop the motor home, he must have hit the accelerator instead of the brake. A few seconds later, the only thing we could see was the air conditioner on top of the motor home and the very top of the windshield. He had not yet loosened his tie-downs, so the boat didn't float off, either. It took 2 wreckers almost an hour to pull him out. Even though it was a real expensive tragedy for the owner, we couldn't help ourselves - we laughed until our sides hurt. Shame on us, right? OMG, it was funny, though!

Saw this same thing at a ramp here, guy had a new tracker panfish with roller bunks. I didn't see it happen but the boat was halfway up the ramp on the ground when we came in for the day.
