Mossyoakglock Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I currently have a Shimano Chronarch (2013 white one) that I got last Christmas currently paired with a Crucial 7' Med/Med-Fast (marked as "Crankbait"). I just picked up the new Curado and got a Sellus 6'8" Medium/Fast or MH/Fast (can't remember what it is now but I know it's marked as "Topwater"). I'm using the Chronarch/Crucial combo for cranks and basically anything with a treble hook. I'm using the Curado/Sellus as my Spinnerbait/buzzbait, topwater, worm and my general "do-anything" rod. If I'm bank fishing and only want to take one rod, this is what I take. I also have a dedicated worm/jig combo. Do these sound like their are paired well or should I switch it and go with a Chronarch/Sellus and Curado/Crucial combo? I thought I remember reading somewhere that the Crucial was designed to be paired with the new Chronarch. Thoughts? Quote
Mike2841 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 You could switch the reels around and see if you like it better. I think the biggest at thing would be the gear ratio, but if they're that same ration I don't think it'll make much difference. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 25, 2014 Super User Posted April 25, 2014 If it isn't broke don't fix it. If you like them the way they are, there's really no need to change. Quote
Mossyoakglock Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 The Chonarch is 6.5:1 and the Curado is 6.3:1. I figured it wouldn't make a difference which reel was with which rod but thought I'd ask. Bored at work today too so needed something to help pass the time. Quote
Cgrinder Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I too heard something about the Chronarch going on the Crucial and the Core going on the Cumara, etc. Probably just a ploy or something to get you to buy more rods. What's your dedicated Worm/Jig combo that you mentioned? Quote
Mossyoakglock Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 If you hadn't asked me I could tell you what the rod is but I know it is a Shimano. I do know it's a MH/EF 6'6". It is paired with a Shimano Castaic. I've had the setup for at least 10 year now. *Edit - The rod is a Shimano Crucial. Quote
