Luke at Gouldsboro Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Just wondering if anyone uses loop knots, and for what baits. Thanks Quote
Nice_Bass Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 topwater walk the dog hardbaits. dont throw them much, so i dont use the knot much... Quote
shallow thinker Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I use a loop knot for most topwater and jerk baits Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 8, 2011 Super User Posted March 8, 2011 Pretty much never. I'd have to consult a guide to even tie it at this point. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 8, 2011 Super User Posted March 8, 2011 Never. I can't seem to tie one that comes out to much better than about 30%. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 I use a loop knot quite a bit, very easy to tie and amazingly strong. I mostly use this knot fishing saltwater ( been a bit lazy this year using more duolocks), jigs, soft plastics on jig heads, spoons, top water jerkbaits, just about everything. I have yet to be with a saltwater guide that doesn't use the knot, I use only 2 knots out here, loop and clinch. Quote
river-rat Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I have been using a loop know when fishing jerkbaits (Rogue, Redfin, etc.) since the early 70's. The loop knot allows for more action. I use the Rapala loop knot and have never had a problem with losing fish because of knot failure. Quote
WanderLust Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I opt mainly for a split ring these days but for larger topwater hardbait its tough to beat. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 9, 2011 Super User Posted March 9, 2011 Another vote for 'Never'. Quote
