endless Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 My wife is wonderful and she has been a great mother as well. I buy what I what, no questions ever asked, but I already paid my dues. Raised my family, sent them to college, married them off and put away for my retirement.......... I'm just thankful my wife doesn't fish, I'm not about to stop every 45 minutes so she can take a whizz. My wife is only 31 and this is her. But to be truthfully honest I'm all for her going cause besides eating out almost every Friday we really don't do nothing exciting together. She does like fishing when do go so I got her own combo and tackle. She definitely wants to do more now after she had the gastric done. She feels more confident and outgoing. She claims to not wait to go this year when the weather breaks and the fish bite is on. Quote
endless Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 My wife has a good job, cooks my food, takes care of the kids, and lets me get " friendly" with her.........I could care less if she buys me fishing stuff. My wife (and most of the other posters wives, I'm sure) does all that too. But it's a welcome and much-appreciated bonus that she also takes an interest in and supports my hobbies. Tom Agreed! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted March 8, 2011 Super User Posted March 8, 2011 my wife will complain some times even though we have a deal that regular paychecks go towards bills and the kids and stuff she wants. but my army drill pay funds my hobbies fishing,hunting(.243 ammo is crazy expensive), R/C trucks,paintball so i just buy her her "cute" lures and then i get to go nuts on everything else. as long as she gets some pink cute lures she lets me blow my weekly fund. she loves to fish just the same stoping to pee or eat especialy right when the fish turn on Quote

There have been times when I come home with a couple dozen Lucky Craft baits or 50 bags of plastics, I never get a bad time about it. Her attitude is that its better than sitting in the bar or the casino and having nothing to show for it. me and my brother in law try explaining that to my wife when she gets on my case about fishing and hunting it could be worse i could drink and smoke and a ton of other things but instead i just hunt and fish i haven't drank sense i turned 21 4 years ago. so really hunting and fishing isnt that bad of a habbit Quote

She wanted a smoker so I told her we would go this weekend and she wanted to have lunch there as well. I was at BPS the day before with my brothers and picked her up a BPS shirt which she wore to Cabelas, lol as some of the salesmen ribbed her about the shirt choice. We got her smoker and I wanted to take a look at the Cabelas micro guide rods. I did and we went and had lunch and during lunch there she said I should get the rod. We went back to take a look and a salesman came over and she asked him how many fishing setups he had, his response was 40. She said wow and asked how many I had and I said 10-12 and she said go ahead and put the rod on layaway and I'll get it out. So new rod will be out next week thanks to the wifey. chromedog Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 My wife is usually great about me buying tackle. She knows I will not be stupid and that I wouldn't spend the money if we couldn't spare it. She has even called BPS or Tackle Warehouse to take care of problems or ask questions. She doesn't really fish, but likes to tag along sometimes. She will let me fish 6 out of 7 days usually. I just have to do what she asks me, when she asks me and then I usually can pretend to be an adult. She actually likes going to BPS cause she can wander the mall and then make me go eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. Now with that said, she just can't wrap her mind around the Megabass Pop Max I bought. She just said I better not lose it. I think she mentioned something about going in after it if need be, lol. But you guys are right. I know in my case my wife knows I am not in the bars, in trouble, "fishing" for women or anything else dumb so she lets me breathe. But make no mistake, she is still in charge. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Sorry guys but your wives may be great, but mine is THE best. She allows me to fish 3 days a week as I work the other 4. She doesn't complain, is pretty cheap, and does whatever she can to help me out with anything. I bought about 1k worth of tackle in January with no complaints and I have put over 1k in my motor (which is about to go back to the shop) with little complaints lol. P.S. I know this doesn't have to do with fishing, but I have to brag when I get the chance. She is actually in Haiti right now doing some mission work with our church. She is the only girl there. Shes a soldier and a hard worker, and I cant wait for her to come home this Saturday!! Quote

"why do you need so much " you already have green ones why do you need three colors" bla bla bla, I am just thankful that my wife and kids love fishing its awesome to go as a family real quality time.
