BPS carbonlite. Have one in 6'6" MH/F and it is a great all around rod, light, sensative, hook set power. I wouldn't spend $50 more dollars on another rod.

But if your in the neighborhood of 150 then I hear the Daiwa Tatula rods are really great in that price range. I am looking at getting thier frog rod later in the year so I been studying the reviews albeit the casting versions.

Yeah, wanted an ***, tried ordering one twice from an online retailer, both rods had quality control issues...nothing too bad , but definitely enough to make me want to return them. Nothing against *** , but I doubt I will be ordering another rod from them for awhile - might be different but was the same issue both times

Broken record here again, an all purpose spinning rod in your price range screams Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth, 6'9" M-XF. I got it  for shaky heads and light jigs and tubes and it has really done a great job and I found that flukes and senkos are easy to fish as well as drop shots, it really can do it all. I would also like to tell you to not be afraid of the extra fast action, it is that action which actually makes the rod so good because the medium power allows small baits to load the rod so you can really make good casts and it is one of the more sensitive sticks you'll find in the price range. I use mine when the water temps are low to throw Rapala Shad Raps and it does that quite well, and the build quality is spot on, something Fenwick seems to care about as all their sticks look really good.

Apologies if it's been asked about before! Have a fishing trip coming up soon, kind of went into panic mode after I found out I was going to send the second *** black back - still kind of bummed about that, the *** is def a nice rod for the price, I guess I just have bad luck! Will def check out that Fenwick!

x2.I recommend this rod.  I also think smalljaw meant broken record on what he recommends.  I own the same rod, very versatile and can be a great all purpose spinning rod.

I meant me, I sound like a broken record because I fell in love with the rods when they came out and I sound like a broken record for recommending this series all the time. I like to use better tackle and to make a long story short I ended up with cancer and as a result I'm now on a fixed income so I was really worried that I would end up sacrificing a lot of performance to be able to afford new rods unless I would limit my purchases. Around the time I was in the market I noticed Fenwick was marketing this Elite Tech series of rods and when they came out I decided the price was right and that at least the warranty was decent should it be a lousy rod. What happened was I found a rod that had an action that fits my style of fishing and it was also the first sub $200 rod that was really light, in fact it was lighter than my IMX and about that time I began to worry about the strength. My first trip out made my fears go away and it lead to me buying more and even upgrading to an Aetos, Fenwick actually made a rod that was better than the price point. I also had a Vendetta from abu Garcia and I like it, the rod fished beyond price point as well but it just isn't the same as the Elite Tech series. Sorry for the ramble.

Med. light Abu Veritas.

I've had the medium action version for 3 years now...I'll say it fishes a power above what its labeled, which is why I reccomend the ML.

New to this forum....

First, a big thank you to all you guys for sharing your insights, experiences, and knowledge.

I did a lot of research for a new spinning rod and reel set up to use primarily for t-rigs and wacky worming. After that research, went with Shimano Stradic Ci4+ paired with Cabela's Platinum ZX - to my knowledge, the specs and reviews of that rod seemed superior to rods at 2 and 3x the price (got it on sale for $139, free shipping). I originally opted for the *** Black ***, but continued to do some research while that was on seemingly endless back order.

Yet again I will say Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth. Someone was just asking this and I recommended it. They said they ended up going with that rod. It is as good of a rod as you could need really. They are amazing rods.

Dude you can get a awesome rod under $150. Check out the Denali 7'2 mh kovert spinning rod. I throw shakey heads, drop shots, small jigs, and wacky rigs. Cant go wrong here.
