The bass are starting to bite again so it's time to get our competition back up and running! We've been doing this competition for a couple of months now and it's a lot of fun, if you not a New Englander I suggest trying to start up a similar competition in your area. For those of you who haven't competed check out the links at the bottom from some previous competitions. The competition this year is basically the same, with a little added incentive for some extra fun.

NEW RULES:

No soft measuring tapes

Artificial lures only

You must declare that you are "in" before the first of each month or you cannot compete for that given month, since this is the first month i'll give people to May 5th to join.

Once a fish is photographed and measured it must be posted within a week of being caught

Fish will be measured to the nearest 1/4", which we did for most of last years comp

ADDITIONS:

The winner of each months previous months competition provides the next months winner with a prize of the lures they won the previous month with, shouldn't have to spend more than $20.

As we know the angler with the longest 5 fish at the end of the month wins, the monthly winner. This year we are going to have an angler of the year, the angler with the longest 10 fish at the end of the November competition will be given there prize, which is TBD...

At the end of the year I'll try to coordinate a fish off where we all go on a rather unfamiliar lake and compete for the day...

So it goes by top 5 longest fish the person caught in May? Or is it just your inches in fish add up and then the person with the most inches at the end of the month wins?

Perhaps the last place finisher should provide prizes for the next months winner?

Or perhaps the other way around. I wouldn't mind getting some rage lobsters from Shane or some jigs from mainebass

I mean I get what your saying, I'd just hate to have the last place person have to do so... We could make it so someone just volunteers to provide a prize each month...

I wouldn't mind rotating a monthly sponsor. Get a list of volunteers and assign people a month to supply the prize

What will it take to win ? 100 inches ? 105 inches ? 110 ?

Posted

I'll be taking the top spot with 145 inches, thank you.

I take it you are in lol.

In. And we already know, I got the first month's prize pack, which I am giving to Jitterbug on Saturday. Good luck, and loads of fun to all!  Fish on, peeps!

Some inspiration (not to mount your fish, but to catch the big ones!)...

Ps- anybody catches a peacock in New England, and I'll double the prize pack!! Haha!!
