Bass Class Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 After a long (and cold) winter, spring finally emerges, and so do I from a long salmon/steelhead season. I'm feeling kind of rusty from spring 2013 (mostly because fourteen out of fifteen bass i hooked came off...).I seem to have better luck around autumn. But i'm looking for some pointers on how to keep these postspawn bass on. Is it something i'm doing, or is it inevitable? Quote
CJV Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 What kinds of lures are you having problems with? Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 24, 2014 Super User Posted April 24, 2014 Yes. Glad spring and the pollen have arrived. Regarding you losing so many fish, are you losing them on treble hook baits? Give us some more data and maybe we can give you some suggestions to consider. 1 Quote
fishva Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Where are you losing the fish? On the hookset? During the fight? At shore / the boat? And as others have said, what types of hooks? Quote
Bass Class Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 during spring, i mostly use weedless frogs in the morning, and i do wait a few fractions of a second longer with the frogs like i have been told, in mid morning to early afternoon i use crankbaits (with treble hooks), and anytime later than that i use the best working lure that i had used before that. Next week it's supposed to be close to 90 they say. I had a long enough winter down here in NC. I feel sorry for northern states. Quote
MVPastva Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 no spring here in Ohio. This weather really needs to go away already. Can't even hit the river from all the rain. Quote

plumworm Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 There is no spring in Wis. Going from winter to summer (Ihope). Today is the opening day of fishing season and the lakes in the northern 1/3 of the state still have ice. Quote
