Hello Bass Resource,

I need a honest question what to do about this. I am going to my very first tournament at state for Iowa BASS Nation May 10th to 11th. I leave town May 6th and practice starts 7th to 9th. Actual tournament dates are 10th and 11th. Okay heres the question. I'll be on a boat obviously on the lake with the boater. Lets say if you have a bowel movement going on that you have to drop it or you have to go to restroom to urine. What are you supposed to do at this time? Im not gonna go on the lake and go.

I need a honest question and I know i will receive some hilarious comments. But thats fine. Just need the answer!

Thanks!

DILLY

Eat light the day before and don't drink coffee on the way to the ramp

As a non-boater, there is no #2 for me. I have never had an emergency, but I have had the urge to go before. There is no way I would ask the boater to leave the spot to go find a spot to take a dump. You could possibly miss 30 min or more of fishing. As for taking a pee. If we are in a secluded area, out the back of the boat it goes. If we are amongst a bunch of boaters or in a cove with houses, then I get behind one of the consoles and go in a coffee can and pour it out and rinse.

When you are away from home at a tournament, eat foods that you know will agree with you.  Years ago, at a tournament on Grand Lake, I drew a guy who got some bad Kentucky Fried the evening before.  Twice he had to go hang it off the back end, then around 11:00 or so we had to go to some cabins and when he came out he had all different clothes and a different rain suit on.  5 years later, his buddies still kidded him about that.

On a positive note, he was very well prepared, lots of guys wouldn't have a spare rain suit.

#1 off the back on the down wind side of the motor.  #2 only if you have a bingo dobber and it is ready to release, ask to run up on the bank behind a tree...  Good question though.  Makes me think.  I would think the boater would understand if you gotta go, you gotta go.

that's gonna be rough....especially if your partner is fishing deep on okoboji. dont drink coffee or bring one of those minnow buckets /w seat/lid. I've never seen anybody do that but always thought there was an alternative use to those things.

Bring TP just in case and hang it off the back, ask him to raise the engine and turn it, use it to balance you self and drop it off the back..... Number 1, well that has been explained.

You know your body...Me, I have a very light dinner the night before and no breakfast.

But Ill probably have 1/2 pot of cofffee before we launch and usually I'll bring a thermos.

I'll bring an energy bar or one of those lunchable things to munch on during the day..that's it, but like I said you know your body.

Ive had boaters who found a secluded beach area to go, or just stradled the trolling motor shaft.

For #1, the boater will go off the bow, You will have to wait till the wind and chop dies and like what was said, stand as far back as you can and hold on to the big motor with one hand.

Word of caution tho...Make sure the boater isnt about to hit the trolling motor.
