What are the best kinds of mono line? I'm looking for something with as low memory as possible for mono, and preferably something not terribly expensive either.

I love Berkley Trilene XL. Inexpensive, low memory, and I can't remember last time I've had a break off to something other than a pike or pickerel. But thats a bite off.

Sufix Elite for spinning and Siege for casting. Pretreat with KVD L&L.

Suffix elite!! X4

Sufix Elite is my all time favorite for baitcasters. For spinning reels, I like Trilene XL Smooth Casting.

I like the elite too, but it can be a bit stretchy. And like J said, a little KVD L&L goes a long way in making all but the most garbage of lines manageable.

Thanks guys! The 2 kinds of line that I've purchased recently are 12# suffix siege which I put on a baitcast reel, and  8# stren original which I put on a spinning reel. I'm really liking the suffix siege so far. But the stren seems like it might have some memory issues, which is what prompted me to ask this question. Just wanted to see what others were using. Thanks again.

McCoy Mean Green, give it a try and you won't be disappointed. It's strong and has literally no memory at all. Even after leaving my line on spools for over 8 months (Canada's winter), a few casts and it's limp again. No need for line conditioner.

I agree with the siege. It has some memory but that's is expected. I don't know what the breaking point is but it's way higher then it rated. It is really tuff line.

I switched from Garcia mono to Excalibur silver thread copolymer. I never lost a fish again to line problems.

Do to cost I been using the yo-zuri hybrid copolymer and vicious copolymer inbetween. I like the low stretch of the copolymer line. This old man(me) can still be quick on hook sets. The copolymer line seems to last longer too.

Sorry, I do use the red Cajun line for my plastics setup. Because of its disappearance in shallow water.

I have used a lot of different types. My favorites were the Sunline, Mccoy Mean Green, and Trilene, there are a lot of good mono lines out there.

Berkley XL Armor Coated.  It has ZERO memory.  The absence of memory is a night and day difference between even regular XL.

Berkley Trilene XL on my bass spinning reel and on bait caster, will be taking it off bait caster after I fully learn how to use it.  (Not a single complaint with Trilene XL.)  Its also on the rest of my reels.

Maxima Ultragreen on my steelhead spinning reel (bit more money but deffinately worth it.)

Ive been using the berkley trilene smooth casting for a week and really like it so far. Its cheap so that a plus as well!

I made the mistake of buying a spool of Sunline Defier.  Since then, I've been respooling all of my mono/hybrid reels with this line.

I don't even know what Id use mono for anymore. Last time I got hung up on something my lure came back at me like a sling shot. I just want to buy some fluorescent green mono because its so bright and pretty.
