dpeels37354 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Ok so the rod and reel monkey has hit me hard I've sober over $400 in 2 days. I picked up a Powell Diesel Crankbait Rod and was wondering what would be a good reel to put on it? Somewhere between 0-100$$$$ please my wallet is hurting lol. Quote
Crappiebasser Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Maybe a Curado G5 if you can find one? X2 if you can find one for $100 it's your best bet. Quote
Megastink Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Lews speed spool: $80 shipped from eBay. It comes in 5.4 right handed. Quote

stkbassn Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I say Curado G5 or Citica G5.....Both fine reels for what you're after. Very easy to tune and casting is excellent. Both had for around the $100 mark, Curado a few bucks more and the Citica a few bucks less on average. You won't be disappointed with either. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted April 23, 2014 Super User Posted April 23, 2014 BPS Pro Qualifier, Lews Speed Spool, Shimano Citica E, with just these three you have the choice of either dual brakes, mag brakes, or centrifugal brakes, so it starts to become a matter of preference quickly. Quote
AaronSchneider Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Pro qualifier if you have to stay under 100, I personally like the revo winch. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 23, 2014 Super User Posted April 23, 2014 For under $100 I'd say the BP Pro Qualifier. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 24, 2014 Super User Posted April 24, 2014 Forget the monkey ~ Feed the Gorilla ! Get a Shimano Calcutta 200D ~ Very Sweet. A-Jay Quote
frogflogger Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I have a browning 5:1 I've used for crankbaits for years and it keeps on cranking - I think it was $80 or so at bps - 10 bb's - smooth as butter. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 24, 2014 Super User Posted April 24, 2014 I have been using a Abu Garcia Orra Winch this spring. $99, and it's been great so far. Palms better, and is more pleasurable to fish all day with than my old cranking reel, a Shimano Curado 201DPV. Performance has been great, I can cas a 3/8 oz bait on a MH cranking rod as far as I would ever want, and I cann really wing a big deep diver with it. It's one equipment "downgrade" I don't regret.
