Super User tcbass Posted April 21, 2014 Super User Posted April 21, 2014 What's the best type of boat trailer guide? Have a 17.5' Crestliner Fishhawk.Roller, board with single post or board with double posts?I like how the boards guide more, but I've heard of the mounting bolts tearing out of the boards. I've also heard that the black rollers mark up boats. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 21, 2014 Super User Posted April 21, 2014 I have the rollers on my Xpress trailer. They only touch the boat when I'm off. Honestly, I've thought about taking them off. Quote
BassnChris Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I just installed these....only used them once......but it was great. lined the boat up perfectly centered without any trouble at all. http://www.bullseyequickload.com/ no affiliation. hope to post video soon of my first loading using the quickloaders. EDIT: Here is the video http://youtu.be/NZ41KPdGGyw Quote
joefish Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 That guy between boat and truck is in a dangerous place when loading a boat IMHO. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 22, 2014 Super User Posted April 22, 2014 They almost never come into play. The boat centers on the bunks pretty easily, if you don't dip the trailer too deep. Also, the rollers are noisy on the road. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 22, 2014 Super User Posted April 22, 2014 Looking at your hull, I will say I added the side rail type on my old deep v rig. They really helped in windy days. I'm thinking that may be the better choice, after looking up your boat. Very similar to my old Sea Nymph. Quote

BassnChris Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 can yall not just drive on your trailer now? hell, I guess I need to talk to Chris too, I must be missing the boat somehow with the product. I'll show you next weekend, Brian. MY problem is that I am retentive and I want my boat 'perfectly' centered on my trailer.............and I not a great boat loader........these position the boat exactly where it was when it left the trailer without any effort on my part (other than getting it running up on the trailer).........even with a crosswind, wakes, or currents........just slides right up into place. Then they quickloaders (guideons) simply turn 90 degrees to moved the alignment surface away from the boat while being trailered down the road. Necessary....no. Required....no. But the bottom line is it will make my life easier and that makes me happier. I just happened to have a few bucks that I could use for it so I bought them. And I already love them! They will make the end of a long day on the water much easier........keeping the day enjoyable and not ending it with issues of trying to load in the wind or the like. That video shows you we were coming in at the end of a local bass tournament......there were alot of boats still coming in.......I was able to just slide up onto the trailer...perfectly centered....hook up and pull out. Lot's of you guys don't need them.....I feel like I do.....they make me more confident in loading, ie more successful loader......so I'm much happer at the end of the day. 1 Quote
Brian Needham Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'll show you next weekend, Brian. cool, I want to see it. My last boat it was kind of a bear, as the trailer had to be real close to the right depth or it might not center up. The boat I have now, it is pretty good. But like you I am fairly retentive.... so I winch it up more. I drive on, kick in out of gear to let it center then give it a little nudge. I don't drive all the way to the bow stop, and wont.... I don't mind giving the winch 10 cranks, the last foot or so..... of course I am 37 now and I am sure that will change too in the next few years! LOL Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 25, 2014 Super User Posted April 25, 2014 I received my new "Loadons" today and have started the process of bolting them on. Here is my perspective. I'm no longer a young man, and have arthritis in my hands. I drive a tin boat, and trying to get that sucker centered on the bow roller can be a bear with any wind, and in Oklahoma there is ALWAYS wind. When putting the boat back on the trailer I want the bow on the roller. With my hands, the last thing I want to do is any cranking. I think this new product will be a godsend for me. I want to state that I have no affiliation with this company and it is not a sponsor of this site - yet. 1 Quote

With the winds that are usually out on the lake my boat gets loaded at an angle, because I normally leave the lake at dark with most people there is a line to get boats out of the water. I don't want to be that guy that takes an hour to load his boat. I just want to load it quickly and get out. So these will make it much quicker and easier. Plus, I am big on having my boat loaded correctly. Quote
BassnChris Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Today on Wilson at the road trip the water was a little choppy and the wind blowing....................man o man...............she just slid right up on to the trailer perfectly centered. Quote
