So I need some input. Huge fan of the Keitech line of swimbaits. But I see now that Bass Pro is making a swimbait with a similar body style. I know the Keitechs are great but I have not heard any reviews on Bass Pro speed shad.

How's the action compare?

Durability?

Durability is much better. Action is like your average paddle tail.

I like the very wide tail kick from the keitechs at low retrieve speed. The Speed Shad does not have it. It's a good swim bait, but for the same price, I prefer the Keitechs.

I thought that would be the case. The whole reason I'm such a fan of keitech is the extreme tail action with minimum movement. Hard to beat Keitech!

I do like them, especially for skipping under shallow docks. However, I can't justify buying them for the price they ask vs how long they last.

Sometimes you just have to pay the price, there's an opposite relation between bait action and bait durability, in some it doesn't seem to matter much most of the times ( like with soft pastic stickbaits ) but in others the difference is abismal, this may be the case. For example, when I purchased Imakatsu's Javallons right from Japan I was in awe when I saw them in action and sincerely dissapointed when I discovered that like with many japanese soft baits they were 1 fish per bait ( and sometimes less than that ), later I discovered that an "identical" bait was being manufactured in America by Lake Ford Tackle under the name Live Magic Shad, I assume that there must be some kind of arrangement between both companies because not only the baits are "identical" in size, shape and form up to the point they even have the same marks, but also both companies share several baits, however "identical" is NOT that "identical" , they may look like but they are not the same. I'm not saying the Live Magic Shad is a bad bait, on the contrary, it is an excellent bait however it does not have the deadly action the Javallon has.

There rarely is ever any benefit of buying knock offs outside of durability. The action isn't there and neither is the scent. There are always cheaper versions and impostors of baits like senkos but to me they just don't perform the same. After fishing various knock offs a popular baits with less than average results I stopped. Shelling out a few more bucks for baits that produce more and better fish will always win out over durability and cost.

Keitechs are a top five plastic producer for me and a bait I have lots of confidence in for both quality and numbers of fish.

I agree there is no comparing Keitech to BPS.

Anyone try the Kalins Sizmic shads? I just used both the Keitech and Kalins and the keitechs seemed to have a softer feel to them, but the kalins had a pretty nice action themselves. I was using the keitech on a dropshot and did well, and the kalins as a swimbait, and maybe the swim bait bite was just not on? Kalins are not cheap either, I have always been an Gambler Ez Swimmer guy.

try the bass assassin elite shiners. They do not have the ribbed body like the keitechs but do have a similar tail and great swimming and rolling action at slow speed.

I prefer the lunker city swimmin ribsters. They are a little cheaper than keitechs, you get more per pack, and they are 10x more durable

you get what you pay for

Ever do any research before making these kinds of posts?

The BPS bait in question is 7.29, pretty much the same price as Keitechs. "You get what you pay for" is not really an accurate statement, lol. It boggles me that they charge the same, but hey, they look good. If they were 3.99 a pack or something, I would have swapped. If they were much cheaper, your statement would be accurate. They do look great on a swimming jig and chatterbait, though.

I thought the same thing.  They cost the same so get the Keitechs!  They are killer on a Yum Flashmob Jr.

hey JeremyRyanWebb, I came across the new Bass Assasin Boss Shiner and actually prefer it over the Keitech.  Actually has more bend in the tail at half the price.  Side by side, you cannot tell them apart.

I'm gonna have to try those bad boys!

I'm a sucker for swim baits in the Louisiana grass.

Try the Sea Shad Assassin as well, they have a lot of action and work great on a darter head. I think they also make a freshwater version of it called the turbo shad.
