Super User roadwarrior Posted April 18, 2014 Super User Posted April 18, 2014 My best friend and fishing buddy, Speedy Madewell, passed away last night. People grieve in different ways, but I choose not to be sad about his death, but instead celebrate his life. Speedy was a strong willed man, solid citzen, good husband and a great father to his children. His legacy is extended through his son and daughter and their four beautiful children. His wife Janie remains strong and serves as the matriarch in her extended family. So CHEERS for my friend. Speedy had a great run and I am proud to have known him. -Kent 5 Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted April 18, 2014 Super User Posted April 18, 2014 We've lost a good friend. Speedy was a good man, a fine friend, a gracious host and a top shelf fisherman. That's the man I knew. My heart goes out to his family, who knew him as much more. I didn't get to fish and hang with him as often as I would have liked, but the times I did have will be long in my memory. I will never forget the night he and I sat up until way past zero-dark-thirty, sippin down most of a bottle of fine old cognac, talking about everything under the sun. I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but I liked him as well as I know how. You will be missed, brother. 3 Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 19, 2014 Super User Posted April 19, 2014 Death sucks. I always put a lot of thought into the passing of a friend/family member. The only ones that really bother me are the ones that I feel like left this earth without having the chance to experience what I feel like a life should be. I have been at funerals of guys that were 18, 19, 22, 25, 30 years old and I just felt bad that they wouldn't have the opportunity to raise kids, experience grand kids, etc. Those are the funerals that bother me the most. I actually feel a sense of comfort when I attend a funeral of someone who I know got to live a fulfilling life. That's just me though. Sounds like your friend lived a great and fulfilling life. Quote
