TorqueConverter Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I sometimes have to replace my GYCB before I even get bit. It like how dare I have the audacity to actually use them as fishing lures. I really wish the Flappin Hog wasn't so awesome. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 20, 2014 Super User Posted April 20, 2014 What do you want? Bass in the livewell or lures in the tackle box...Ya can't have both! If ANY lure I throw catches 1 bass its done its job! Quote

Super User Catt Posted April 20, 2014 Super User Posted April 20, 2014 I guess you don't throw crankbaits? That would get expensive. I've lost a half dozen DD22s in one tournament to win $8,000! Each lure I own is bought to catch 1 bass, not 5, not 10, but 1; any more than one is lagniappe! Quote

Interesting philosophy..can't say I agree but then again I'm mostly fishing for fun. As far as the OP... I usually can't get more than two or three fish on any soft stick bait. But I keep the torn pieces and use them as jig trailers. I don't know why..but they work. Quote

In my mind there is no difference between fun fishing or tournament fishing, you have to put the lure where the bass are. 1 Quote
michang5 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Went out on local lake yesterday and boated 4 and lost 4. Of the 8 total fish that bit one of my baits, 5 of them were on senkos (5" WMRF and 4" watermelon laminate). All were wacky rigged with o-ring and each one survived the strike to be used again. Only lost two senkos in 5 hours on the water -- tail tore off one (dunno how) and one got snagged during an awful cast and had to be broken off. Not a bad senko day! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 21, 2014 Super User Posted April 21, 2014 I don't give a crap about bait durability either...............one bait, one fish, I am fine with it....................however, I do care about money in my bank account or wallet, so when Yum dingers get the job done just as well at .40 cents a pop, as opposed to GYCB senkos at .75 cents a piece (5" versions/TW prices for comparison) I will, and have, opted for the more cost effective of the two. The added durability of the Dinger is a secondary, and welcomed by-product. I have given enough money to GYCB the last few years, I need a break. 1 Quote
