Senko Falls Apart

Fished a GY Senko for the first time today. I loved it but had to replace after every catch because they fell apart. This was a new bag that had just been opened. Is this normal? Those things are pretty pricey, especially if it only last one per fish.

If you're Texas rigging, try using parasite clips (in small size).

99.9% of the time I throw senkos wacky with a rubber o-ring. Much more durable.

But, yes, all GYCB products are super soft and rather fragile, but they catch fish!

100% normal. YCB are usually 1-fish baits.

 Bring the torn baits home and use a product called Mend-It to fix each bait. Hard to believe but the baits will seem good as new.

 It's just par for the course man. you can buy Senko knock-offs. BPS makes a good stick bait, but IMHO, whether Texas rigged or wacky rigged, nothing compares to a Senko.

The BPS Stik O last a few fish longer. I also use the gambler ACE for there electric blue flake color. I just purchased the mister twister comidas(senko style). I'm going to see if these will last longer. They are more affordable. Quality wise the other mister twister products are tops in plastics.

I can catch a lot more fish per BPS Stik O than GYCB Senko, I don't feel like I'm losing out either.  I also use Yum Dingers, if you wacky rig with an O Ring though the Senkos last a lot longer.

I just wish that BPS would offer all the stik o colors they once offered. They seem to take what we have or forget it attitude. I kind of forget about using senko baits when I can't find my colors that work.

I dont use the GYCB anymore other than the shad tail worm, and the kreaure... for senko type baits i use either the yum dingers or the gander mtn brand. they have 40 pks for like 9 dollars... also the strike king offerings work well too...

I used the new Zoom Fluke worm last year in place of the senko worked very well and lasted longer more importantly cost almost half the price.

If your going to fish them  texas rigged, use Owner Twist lock hooks, 3/0 or 4/0. I get three or more fish per Senko using these. These are the hooks that Gary Y recommends.

Went to Bass Pro tonight to get the parasite clips that were suggested, but they didn't have a clue as to what they were even though they have them on the website so I didn't get any. Also got the BPS Stik-o and the dingers to try and see how it goes.

Owner twistlock hook (or make yor own for alot less) as said already.

 

Also turn the bait around and texas rig the other end.

 

Or save the head torn baits and save them to rig wacky on an o-ring

 

But I think the stick-o and dingers you will like.

But hey, a nice trade off. I'd lose a bait to forego a skunky day!

d**n guys, I just have better luck with the real GYBC senkos. I don't know what it is, but I do. I guess, if I'm going to spend $4.60 for a gallon of gas for my boat, and drive "what ever" miles @ $4.60 a gal. for my pickup truck to get to where I am going to fish, a few more bucks for real senkos is minor. Just my point of view. Peace
