John Z. Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Hi all, I was wondering if their is a way to mount a 83/200 + 455/800 transducer for a Elite 4x HDI onto a 40lb thrust minn kota troll motor. If so can some one please link me to it. I've looked around however I have had no such luck finding a match. Thanks! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 17, 2014 Super User Posted April 17, 2014 Google is your friend. I did a search for HDI trolling motor transducer and got this with no effort: http://www.basspro.com/Lowrance-HDI-Trolling-Motor-Adaptor-for-Skimmer-Transducer/product/1210161212/ Quote
John Z. Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 I seen that same thing however according to some of the reviews it does not fit the transducer. This makes me hesitant. I wanted to know for sure. Quote
fish365 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I have mine mounted on a Minn Kota Edge with no issues Quote
Nice_Bass Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 7 hdi combo on a motorguide....it works as advertised. Quote
jcoholich Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I just use the normal transom transducer mount and use a ss pipe clamp feed it through the bracket and tighten down to the trolling motor head Quote
Hubtech Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 For you guys that have the transducer on your TM, doesn't turning the TM mess with the direction it's reading? Have you noticed this does anything screwey? or does it let you "aim" ? I have the elite 5 hdi with the combo transducer. looking into mounting it on my TM instead of the transom. Quote
jessejames556 Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hubtech: I wouldnt mount one on my TM until I had a replacement for the transom mounted one. Maybe it's just me, but I find that I get a lot more out of my transom mounted humminbird that I read while under main motor power at the wheel than I do from the TM mounted fishfinder that I read on the front casting deck. The 2-5 mph readings I get at the wheel are definitely better images and I think it's a more worthwhile spot for the higher end fishfinders. I moved my older model fishfinder up front to the TM once I had a higher quality replacement for it at the wheel. Now on to answering your question: when I installed my transducer to the TM, I fully expected it to be an "aiming transducer", like you said. I fish with my fiancee's father on his boat and this has been my experience with his TM mount fishfinder. I was surprised to find that mine remains constant no matter which way I point mine. It may be because I just have it at the right angle though. I guess it's all in how you angle it, but it's definitely possible to cater to your preference- whether you want an "aiming fishfinder" or not. John Z: Here's the TM mount I use:http://www.cabelas.com/product/Rig-Rite-Trolling-Motor-Transducer-Mount/733974.uts?productVariantId=1187361&WT.tsrc=CSE&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=00001718&rid=40&channel=GoogleBaseUSA&mr:trackingCode=BD5084C8-958E-DF11-A0C8-002219318F67&mr:referralID=NA&mr:device=c&mr:adType=pla_with_promotion&mr:ad=30640542791&mr:keyword&mr:match&mr:filter=57964945271&gclid=COSAhu_R374CFXQiMgod03UAWw&gclsrc=aw.ds Quote
Hubtech Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I still just dont know what to look for on my FF still. but that's another topic for another day i reckon. Quote
Hubtech Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 OK, I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000BVFUU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and let me tell you the fit is nice on my MK 50 lb thrust. Took it out last night and well....my imaging was greatly hindered. DSI wasn't working right, nor was standard sonar, super "noisy" so i'll be putting mine back on my transom I reckon. Quote
johnmb Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I just use the normal transom transducer mount and use a ss pipe clamp feed it through the bracket and tighten down to the trolling motor head This. You can purchase a large pipe/hose clamp near the washers/dryers in home depot or lowe's Quote
