Got my order in from TW and everything looks amazing! Really happy with it, as it was my first order from there. but anyway...

I paired my Pflueger President 6930 on a Abu Garcia Vengeance 7' M.  I also bought some 10lb Power Pro braid and want to use a 6lb flouro leader on it.

But I have a few questions about the amount of backing I should put on with say... 8lb cheap mono on this reel in order to use half of my 150 yards of braid (75 yards) so I can get two spools out of it, in order to get 75 yards of 10 braid to fit perfectly on the spool.

Any other help of comments about this set up would be great, thanks!

Here ya go:

Fill your reel up with some cheap line you are using for

backing. Tie on a 1/2 oz lead weight and cast that sucker

out in a field as far as you can. With you reel releasing line,

walk to the weight. You now have a measure of two maximum

length casts. Cut the cheap line and dispose of it. Connect

the braid at this point and fill your spool.

Oh, so cast it out, then walk to the weight while line is still coming off so it equals two casts at maximum distance?

That is my exact method.  Works like a charm!

i fill 3 reels with a 150 yd spool of line (i'm never going to cast farther than 150 ft).

my arm to arm length is 6 ft. i strip off 150 ft of braid in my living room for my main line (25 arm lengths).

tie it direct to bare spool and reel in.

then just add as much mono as needed to fill spool, leaving 1/8" of spool rim w/o line.

the line is on backwards but perfectly spooled.

strip all line off and tie on mono.

after all line is back on just add 5-15 ft leader of choice.

with this method the only thing you have to be careful of is the mono can coil in ur house if in a tight area.  i'm careful in winter and run the mono around chair arms, under pillows etc.  it's very easy outside b/c you can walk off the mono and keep it straight. just reel up slowly so you'll see if a coil is coming

I actually use an empty spool (not reel but the spool lines comes off of) when I want to save or transfer lines to another reel.  Easier than to let it free.

I've thought of that too, but I feel like it would get tangled and become a mess, but that's just me.  I will probably do the first method mentioned
