JasonRE Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Looking to purchase guide poles for my trailer. I want to make absolutely sure that they fit my trailer before ordering so what's my best option? I have a 18' Skeeter with original trailer. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted April 18, 2014 Super User Posted April 18, 2014 About the only way to do that is make them yourself. Most kits I've seen are for lighter weight Jon boats so check carefully on the size and gauge metal. Also how it attaches ti the trailer. If you are doing this to load in a current, the weight of that boat could bend those light gauge ones over. Quote
BassnChris Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I just installed some Bullseye quick loaders on my 2001 Procraft 185Pro.......testing them out tomorrow morning.......I'll let you know how it goes. you can see them here : http://www.bullseyequickload.com/ No personal affiliation.......Chuck is very responsive and proactive with the customer. He called me to verify a measurement on my custom order.......instead of just building them without asking. Very quick ship. If these work as I expect.....I will not have another boat without them. Maybe not necessary but definitly very nice to have....just makes the end of the day a little smoother back at the ramp. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 18, 2014 Super User Posted April 18, 2014 I fastened a 5' piece of 2" plastic pipe to the tongue of my trailer, to give myself something to grab on to an steady myself as I enter/exit the boat. It also functions as an aiming point as I drive the boat on to the trailer. I considered getting the pair of guide poles, but with the orientation of the ramp on the lake I most often fish as, I am often loading in a crosswind. If I miss the trailer and I have it positioned a little too deep, I'd be likely to drift over and snap off the guide pole. Mounting the one pole on the trailer tongue served two purposes for me.
