RF813 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I'll be up visiting friends and family over the weekend. Would anyone have some recommendations in the Taunton Area? (24, 495) Looking at Google maps shows that lot of the lakes in the area have houses all along them. I'm not looking for anyone's secret spot, But I would like to find something with decent shore access and a chance to land some Bass. I'm looking to break a drought a friend of mine has been having. Thanks a lot!! Quote
RF813 Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 I just saw Watson Pond / Lake Sabbatia, anyone ever fish those with any luck? (but it may be out of season to get into the park) Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted April 17, 2014 Super User Posted April 17, 2014 Norton Reservoir is a good bet. Quote
Sdaversa Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Watson Pond is currently closed off, just drove by there this morning. Lake Sabbatia is good, although I haven't fished there yet this year. Lake Rico is a great spot. It's in Massasoit State park in east Taunton. My buddy and I caught a few there this past weekend. There's also Lake Nippenicket in Bridgewater. Right off of the highway. My buddy and I also fished here last weekend and killed them. Water is a little on the cooler side still. Fish slow. Quote
RF813 Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Thank you, i'll be mapping those to check them out. I'm not heading out until Saturday, so more suggestions welcome! I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. Quote
Sdaversa Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 You're welcome! And if the weather cooperates (which it's looking like it should), I will be out on Sabbatia on Sunday morning! Quote
RF813 Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Went out today and it was a lot of fun....a ton of hiking around Rico until we got our bearings, but I ended up with a small pickerel and a small LMB. Not bad I suppose, but the bites were there. Sdaversa, do you fish from shore when you go out? I was wondering what kind of access you usually have when you head out, since when I'm in MA I'm fishing from shore. Quote
Sdaversa Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I used to fish almost exclusively from shore unless I went out with my buddy on his canoe. But I just recently bought a small boat and now I pretty much just fish from that. Unfortunately there's not too much shore access around where I live, unless you want to do some driving haha. Quote
