I will be in Lake Placid the 1st week of July and plan on fishing the lake for bass. It will be our 1st time on this lake, any suggestions? We are staying on the lake and the house comes with a pontoon boat for our use.

Are you on the actual Lake Placid? Because the lake in the town is not Lake Placid

Yes, we are staying on the actual Lake Placid on the South West shoreline.

Havent fished that specific lake but have done very well throughout surrounding lakes. Tubes, drop shots and lipless cranks have worked very well in deeper water on ledges and points as well around islands. Spinnerbaits and inline spinners around the weed/lilly beds. Carolina rigged lizards as well as crankbaits and jigs have done the best through the downed evergreens along the shorelines and isolated woody cover.

My advice is spend the first day fishing as much different stuff as you can whether its changing your lures or your location and youll quickly find a pattern. The smallies up there really tend to move as a whole group for some reason and when you find the sweetspot youll have a ball. Hope this helps.

Placid itself was really rough when I went last year. Mirror Lake (the actual tourist lake) had a lot of action in it. I would definitely take the time to drive around .There are a ton of fishing spots in the area. Some are beautiful and remote.

I expect a full report. I'll be on Saranac the second week of July.

Billy, what Koofy says is pretty much spot on for any of the lakes with deeper water. I will say, if you find old docks, or lay downs, bust out the jigs.
