tbone1993 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Its currently on sale right now and I am looking for a high speed reel. I love my tatula and am wondering if this reel is worth spending $100 on. I dont want to buy a junk reel as they have been on sale forever yet are not sold out. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I got one, I've used it once while I was on Lake Okeechobee and haven't been able to use it up here much. It's the 7.1:1 and I have 65# Power Pro spooled up on it, it handled well there and caught a good amount of fish with one good one. I like the reel and would say it is definitely worth the $109 on. The only time I used it up here was just flipping in a little hole of ice lol. Quote
frantzracing0 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Many on here will tell you how great of a deal that is, buy my experience is different. I did not care for this reel one bit. Casting distance was FANTASTIC, but thats the only good thing about the reel IMHO. The retrieve was rough, was not comfortable for me to palm, felt very very cheap (almost toy like) and in my opinion not a good representation of daiwa. It was a decent reel, but even in the $100 dollar range there are better. Heck I would take a BPS PQ over this reel day in and day out Quote
mjseverson24 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I have a few of them, I love them, they are especially great for pitching lighter baits... that being said i do have one of the 6:1's that is a great all around casting reel... the only thing i don't like them for is heavy duty applications... Super User webertime Posted April 16, 2014 Super User Posted April 16, 2014 I have 3 of them. I feel that they are great reels for $100. Add a bearing to the level wind and drive shaft, get a Lexa or Tatula handle and you have a sick reel for the price of a Citica. I fished them through a whole season and the only part that made me a bit bummed out was when you got into a big largemouth what bunch of weeds or a big smallie at the end of a 1oz+ Carolina rig. The 8:1 ratio made the reel seem stressed. Like everything else in this world, they will be the cat's meow for some and the cat's hair ball to others. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Have em, love em, wish I had more money to buy more of em. Great reels. A lot of people are turned off by the zaion frame and I was skeptical also until I started catching fish with it. Very solid feel with no looking back. If possible get the 8:1 as mine came with a different and upgraded handle than the 7:1 did. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted April 16, 2014 Super User Posted April 16, 2014 Love t3 platform. Id suggest the 1016 if you can swing the 198.88 but if not the t3b is a great reel. Just upgrade the handle. The stock handle is a joke Quote
tbone1993 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Thanks guys ill probably pull the trigger soon. Quote

MO_LMB Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I don't know if I just got a bad reel or what, but the inductor cup on my spool that is supposed to extended into the magnents during the cast doesn't want to stay in place, and results in an awful rattling sound during casts. I think i need to take it in to a warranty center. Other than that I like the reel. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted April 16, 2014 Super User Posted April 16, 2014 It's only $174 for a couple more days. Why do I always miss the big sales? Already got mine. Would love another, but don't feel like losing any vital parts. MO, send it back. Quote
