bartdude186 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I know it has prob been covered in the bass raider thread, but at 1200 post thats a lot of time looking. I'm wanting to mount my transducer on my bass raider, i load it into the back of my truck so i don't want it to get tore off. i would like to mount it to the hull if that is a safe thing to do. I'm not sure where the water line is on it when i"m in it (kinda hard to look) anyone know of a good place to mount it? and what to mount it with? I know i could buy a TM mount transducer but i take the TM off pretty often and that could become a problem. Any suggestions? Quote
Brian6428 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I looked into mounting it on the hull and decided it wasn't for me. It would likely get torn off putting it atop the suburban lol. I just bought the TM mounting bracket for the transducer I have and it works perfect. It is no hassle with taking the TM on and off, the TM has a little rudder that sticks lower than the trandsucer does anyways. I just zip tied the wire to the TM shaft and plug it into the head unit whenever I get to the lake and put the TM on the boat. It only takes another ~10 seconds to set it up with the fishfinder there than without. I did't want to mount to the hull because It would either have to be above the water line or mounted inside the hull, both of which don't allow me to see the water temp. If it was below the water line I would have to seal it, and be very careful when loading and unloading. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, and I just confused you even more I could post a pic tomorrow. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 15, 2014 Super User Posted April 15, 2014 On the Bass Raiders, the best place to mount the transducer is on the trolling motor. The advantages of having the transducer pointing straight down off the trolling motor on the front of the boat outweigh the disadvantages. If you want to remove the transducer from the trolling motor each time, use zip ties and it is a fairly simple procedure to snip them off each time. Quote
