Is This A Versatile Combo?

Rod : Falcon BuCoo 7' MH Mod-Fast - $109

 

The rod is rated for 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz lures, I was wondering if I should use this rod for rod for multiple applications such as lipless crankbaits, texas rigs, weightless flukes and stick baits, and medium-small sized spinnerbaits.

 

I won't be using anything bigger than a 1/2 oz lure, and seldom will I use a 1/2 oz. So I was wondering if I should go with the 7' BuCoo or the 6'10" model.

 

The 6'10 BuCoo is a MH Fast that handles 3/16 to 5/8 oz lures.

 

Any suggestions for which would work better for an all around?

I'd go 7ft. You have more options and that way and can add a trailer without overpowering the rod.

I'd say either will work fine, just whatever you prefer. Also I always recommend holding the rod in your hand first.  You will know at that point....

 While I think either would work, I am also thinking the 7'0" Would be a little better, while the 6'10 would work it may be just a little bit light for of the baits you're wishing to fish.. I would go with the 7'0" myself.

7'0" I would go.  Also the rod probably can handle all those applications.  Although for texas rigs I'd prefer Fast action personally, but I've heard people use mods before..preference thing.

I've fished that 7' rod a few years, and find it best for spinnerbait fishing up to 3/4oz. I'm sure it will work well for what you need.

I have a falcon bucoo micro guide 7 foot MH I think it's a fast action.. I do remember it says trap caster on it and I know the lure rating is 1/4oz to I think 3/4oz.. I use it for light Texas rigs.. 99% of the time a 1/8th tungsten weight and a 4/0 hook is tied on. Every now and then I will throw a 1/4 oz spinnerbait or weightless senko on it.. I love it.. You can cast a light weight bait far and accurate and it is very sensitive.. For 120 I think you can get the micro guides and I recommend that..

I think the rod I am talking about will be a perfect all around rod for most techniques.

I've got the 6'10" Bucoo MH.  I think it is a great wacky senko rod.  I can pitch a senko with a 1/16 oz weighted wacky hook a reasonable distance, maybe max 50 or so feet, 40 feet with reliable accuracy.  I used to use Calcutta 200 TEGT and 15 lb fluorocarbon line.  This year I got a Chronarch 50, primarily for weight reduction.  I always pitch with it, don't think I've ever done an overhead or side arm cast with it.

 

So , I think it is a good rod, can't say how versatile it is.  Any rod you use for different purposes is by definition versatile, so go with the one you like best.
