papajoe222 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Here's the deal. I ran into a fellow club member on the water yesterday and during our discussion he started raving about the muskie fishing at Evergreen, here in Illinois. He is the second person that has mentioned this fishery's muskie fishing to me. So my question is: Why haven't I heard of this lake before?? I've been going to Webster and a number of lakes in Wisconsin in search of muskie, but now I'm anxious to give this lake a shot. Any information you guys can pass along about anything from where to launch to where, in the area, to stay would be great. Thanks Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 Pm me. I live 10 minutes away from it. Ooooooooooh!!!! Must be a secret. papajoe, You can also check out the Fox Chain, Shabbona, and Spring lake for some quality muskies. Here's a fingerling my son caught today on the Chain during a bass tourney. Excuse his ugly mug. We are better looking than that. Quote

I know about Shabbona and have fished it numerous times, but Spring is another I haven't heard much about. Loon is another sleeper around the Chain. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 It's Channel Lake at the channel between Marie and Channel. I fish Loon for panfish every spring and I see an occasional musky, and have caught a few small ones, but not the numbers I see on the Chain. Spring Lake is a HP restricted lake and supposed to not only be great for musky, but bass as well. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Evergreen has some really big fish- but not much of them any longer. 900 acres and restricted to 9.9hp and usually crowded. if you can get down during the week it is not a bad place to be for a couple days. Bloomington is 10 minutes away, but I would most likely just camp.. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 Spring Lake North is loaded with 25-30 inch muskies. There are some bigger ones as well. it's not unusual to get 10 in a day. It's very shallow, less than 4 feet deep. In the summer, it is so weed choked, you almost can't fish it. Best times are the spring and fall. Quote
Tom H. Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 And speaking of some nice musky water in my neck of the woods, check out Double T outside of Canton, Canton Lake, and also Shovel Lake at Banner Marsh Quote
jtmavs Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 McMaster Lake at Snake Den Hollow State Site has some really nice Musky fishing as well as bass. Northeast of Galesburg in Victoria. Quote
