Super User ww2farmer Posted August 31, 2014 Super User Posted August 31, 2014 How deep farmer? Were they right out on the weed edge or did they go down deeper? I struggled deep and in the weeds last time i was there but we did find em shallow...found some toothy critters in the weeds but no bass that wanted to eat lol Stupid fronts anyway lol  Both days they were kind of all over the place for us EXCEPT shallow. Caught several in 8-9 FOW, several in 12-14 FOW, and a couple in 20+. The 5.51 I caught in the tournament on tuesday night was in thick stuff near deep water, my partners 5-7 on thursday afternoon was way out past the weed line on a sharp drop. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 31, 2014 Super User Posted August 31, 2014 Clayton and I took the kayaks to the swamp and beat up on the northerns. Nothing huge, but decent numbers, and good burgers after. That one tree was hot for that half hour or so till that last one dragged me all over after breaking my rod Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 31, 2014 Super User Posted August 31, 2014 At least it wasn't me. Last two tournaments, broke a rod at each. Quote
PAGreg Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Have you guys had to deal with confrontations with homeowners where you're fishing? Â I've had the unfortunate luck of having things said to me about being too close to docks or just shore while fishing on Conesus, Honeoye, Keuka, and Waneta this year. Â I've never run into this before. Â Each time I was fishing around docks. Â I understand a homeowner being aggravated if you're casting your lures up onto the dock or smacking the side of their boats, but each time I was fishing open water around docks. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 1, 2014 Super User Posted September 1, 2014 There's a lunatic on Conesus, and a couple on Keuka that aren't too friendly, other than that, not really. Quote

No, not more than usual. I fish docks often, and I only about once a year someone says anything to me. Just the other day on Conesus was the first time this year some has one said anything, and it wasn't even a confrontation or anything, they just said "Be care full around my stuff guys" and that was all. stratos122 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I have only had it happen at honeoye and the guy started telling me that it is illegal to to fish within 100 feet of docks and if I don't move he would call the cops on me I just told Him go ahead and kept fishing. Quote
bclark7b Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 I have been going out alot, but man I seem to only catch about 5-8 at a time and always end up with one over 5lbs. Last year I was catching a ton of fish and would only catch an occasional one over 5. think I caught my pb last Friday but when I went to weigh it the stupid batteries in my scale were dead. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 13, 2014 Super User Posted September 13, 2014 The bubble burst for me on Conesus lake yesterday. I was there from about 11am till 4pm and caught 11 keepers.... But except for one 4lb smallmouth, and a 3lb largemouth, everything else was in the 2lb ish range. First time in I think over 20 trips there dating back to last year where I have not either caught a five lber, or multiple 4+ lbers. Cold front? Weird summer/fall transition? Who knows, just wasn't my day out there. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted September 13, 2014 Super User Posted September 13, 2014 I got out a few times this week Monday the frog bite was amazing almost every other cast into duckweed and 2fow pike were very very active but flat out missed the frog every time but went airborn every time giving a show. Bass were all one hit wonders no secondary hits or follow up hits. So it was nice that they were at least hitting almost every where I casted. Went out Thursday and only caught a cold no bites any where it tried three different spots three different bodies of water. Quote
PAGreg Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Hit Lamoka on Friday.  The weather forecast was way off.  It was sunny and 60° when I left my place in central PA and 49°, drizzle, and 10-15 mph wind when I arrived at the launch.  There were a few other boats out, but all of them were fishing deep.  I went way back in the shallows and threw an Arashi wake bait over the shallow flats and around lily pads.  It was the first time fishing the Arashi and it produced.  I finished my day with 16 largemouth and 26 pickerel.  All but one pickerel were on the wake bait and half the bass.  The rest I caught pitching docks.  Several 2 lbers with one 4.2 lber I pulled out from under a dock.  It was miserable weather-wise, but I made out thanks to some quality rain gear and my Arashi. Super User ww2farmer Posted September 15, 2014 Super User Posted September 15, 2014 My home lake might be turning around. I made two short evening trips this weekend, Saturday from 6pm till 7:30pm, and yesterday from 5pm till 7pm. Saturday night I caught 4 decent smallmouth between 2.5 -3. 5 lbs, and four largemouth all in the upper 3lb range. And last night I caught three small keeper smallmouth, and 3 largemouth over 5lbs. Super User ww2farmer Posted September 20, 2014 Super User Posted September 20, 2014 Silver was it's usual up and down self this week. I was out there Tuesday morning till about noon, and Weds. night from about 4pm till darkish. I struggled for bites on Tuesday only putting 5 keepers in the boat all morning, but they were decent. A pair of 4lbers, one green, one brown, and a trio of cookie cutter 2.5lbers. Weds. evening was better for numbers, perhaps the best evening bite since spring, as I caught a dozen keepers, with the best five all over 3lbs. This lake has been TUFF this year, so yeah..............I am happy with those days.   Conesus on the other hand was borderline on fire today. I was there from a very CHILLY 7 am this morning till dark tonight, and had my best day for numbers all year there I think. 40+ fish made it into the boat, just no hogs........but size was decent. Three over 4lbs, a dozen more over 3lbs, and a stupid number of 2+lbers. Junk fishing 101. Some under docks, some on the very very shallow inside weedline, some flipping thick weeds, some on the deep weed edge, some off of points in 20+ feet of water. About the only only place I didn't catch a bass today was in the middle of the lake, but I never fished there LOL. Quote

I'll probabaly be there about the same time tomorrow morning. What worked early? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 20, 2014 Super User Posted September 20, 2014 . What worked early? Â Wacky rigging on the deep weedline. 1/8th oz. wacky jig, and a green pumpkin trick worm. Once the sun got high on the water I went to flipping thick weeds and fishing under docks. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 I fished all day sunday, and monday on Silver. Sunday for smallies, and it was slow. One 4lb 14oz brown fish, and a brown 2lber and that was it for keeper smallmouth all day. A couple 12" largemouth, many dink smallies, and a few pike kept me from falling asleep but it was pretty lousy bite. So I did the logical thing on monday, after the air temp had dropped 20 degrees, and a nasty front had passed trough, and fished for largemouth lol. Despite the conditions, that was a better decision. I didn't load the boat with numbers, as I only caught 10 fish from 8am-5pm, but the best five, all largemouth, weighed 22lbs, with a 5lb 5oz fish for my biggest of the day. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 30, 2014 Super User Posted September 30, 2014 This weekend was pretty dang good. I fished Silver sat. afternoon, and caught my biggest fish of the year, a 6lb 4oz largemouth, and then piggy backed that with a 2nd place finish in a tournament on Conesus lake. The first all day/five fish tournament I have ever fished there out of my own boat, and the first one I have fished since 2008. I am happier with that than I am with the tournament I won, or the........literally.....five consecutive 2nd place finishes I have on Silver this year. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 30, 2014 Super User Posted September 30, 2014 I have bridesmaid syndrome, lol. It feels good to win one once in a while.  Had a slow, but quality day at the dump Saturday. Caught in many different cover, conditions, and locations. Frogs, spinnerbait, jig, swimbait...all provided. Best fish was a hair over 4. Sunday was a relaxing kayak trip up the creek with the gf. Caught a couple northerns to break up the paddle. Last night went out a quick trout trip in the kayak. Fish jumping all over the place, but one bite, no hookups. Did catch a great photo of the sunset, though.  3 Quote

ColdSVT Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Wow it was chilly when we launched. 31f pagreg and i did pretty good but stuggled to find the big girls. We had a limit by 930 and culled up three of them later in the day. Best fish was a three lb smallie. The dudes that won had 19.1 and four of those fish were smallmouth! All in all it was pretty good day though Quote
PAGreg Posted October 7, 2014 Posted October 7, 2014 Four smallmouth with largest being 4.12. d**n nice bag, especially for the conditions. Mother nature sent us a pretty good message with the 1/4" of frost covering the dock. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted October 8, 2014 Super User Posted October 8, 2014 My afterwork trips have all but stopped due to daylight shortage, so it's just weekends, and random weekdays that we don't work because of weather issues now. That being said I got out twice last week, once thursday night, and sunday morning. Both on Silver, Thursday was OK with four decent fish making it into the boat before I lost daylight, sunday was SLOW. Two bass, and one pike all morning. I have three days in a row off starting friday, and am fishing all three days, probably Firday at Conesus, and sat. on Silver, and I have my last tournament of the year, our "classic" on Conesus sunday.
