Landis Carrier Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Anyone fish Goose Bay on the St. Lawrence? Thoughts? Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Alright time to revive this thread!!! What lakes are ice free?! Honeoye, conesus, silver, Cayuga, sodus bay, etc etc....I know Canandaigua and Seneca for sure!!! Haha Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 30, 2017 Super User Posted March 30, 2017 Silver has been ice free for about a week. It was ice free most of Feb, too, but then froze back over in early March for about 3 weeks. I will be getting the boat out this weekend. Most years I am ready to go the minute the ice leaves, but this year I am dragging my feet a little. Quote

Yeah, now if it would just quit raining. My boat lives outside now, and that's one of the reasons I am dragging my feet. On getting it out BTW Ben....what weekend you want to come down this spring? When the smallmouth are on the beds again? Or when the swamps are full of largemouth? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 1, 2017 Super User Posted April 1, 2017 Boats out of storage, running, serviced, cleaned up and ready to go. Probably Monday it hit's the water for the first time. 2 Quote
Neil McCauley Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Lake George should be ice free any day now. I'm hoping to be out next Sunday. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 3, 2017 Super User Posted April 3, 2017 Boat hit the water this AM. While it was off the trailer I put new bunk boards on the trailer. I did a lap around the lake checking water temps and clarity. Didn't find anything I wanted to fish real bad (cold murky water has always been tough for me) Made a few casts at a known largemouth spot and caught a pike, made a few casts in a known smallmouth spot and caught some perch. Then I went home. Water temps were 40-42 on the main lake, and 44-46 in the backwaters. I have caught lots of fish in cold water, but what surprised me was how dirty it was. Almost ZERO visibility. It's either got to warm up, or clear up before I get to excited about it. 3 Quote

I am not figuring on slaying them, but need to get on the water. See you out there Farmer, I have a feeling there will be few on the lake. 1 Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Picking up my new rig!!! So excited haha bought a 2004 nitro 901 cdx with a 200 hp merc. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 5, 2017 Super User Posted April 5, 2017 Fished for about 5 hours this afternoon, and ground my way to a limit of average sized smallmouth. No change in water conditions from two days ago. I am still not that excited about it yet. Quote

Jcost2131 Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 If anyone is fimiliar with Cossayuna Lake, it should be completley de-iced by now and is a great spot. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 9, 2017 Super User Posted April 9, 2017 Silver was mighty slow again today. I fished for about 3 hours or so mid-day, and only caught 1 4lb largemouth, and a couple pike. Water is still super dirty and we lost a few degrees of temp too. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 10, 2017 Super User Posted April 10, 2017 I caught a carp today. City Dump lived up to its name. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 10, 2017 Super User Posted April 10, 2017 I don't think anythings on fire right now, or yet. I talked to two buddies on the water around 1-1:30 and they had caught three bass between them since first light, and these are guys whom are mainstays in the cashers/winners circles at my tournaments. 1 Quote
nosdog2 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Silver skunked me today. Doesn't happen often where I cant land something, but zip, nada, nothing. Had something (think it was a pike) swipe at a rattle trap and that was it. Did meet Farmer at the ramp which is nice to put a face to the name. And got back early enough to clear some trees and brush, pushing my rifle range out to 260-280 yards though. Hopefully it picks up this week; I will be back at it in the am. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 10, 2017 Super User Posted April 10, 2017 Some guy named Noel caught smallies on Honeoye today. He's shady. Quote

Honeoye was doing OK today. 1 big perch 2 18-20 inch walleye 8 largemouth 39 smallmouth I wish I didn't waste the first two and a half hours this morning fishing for largemouth. Most of the smallies came in an hour and a half's time. It was ridiculous. 2 Quote

Scorchx1245 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Was going to make the haul to Ogdensburg for the new boat, but it snowed and iced and salted the roads up there so I'm grabbing it this week, another week in the garage won't hurt it!# 1 Quote
